That new DA video finally gave me back some hope, but isn't it a bit weird how they are still in early production and yet they are already recording voice acting? ._. I'm not sure how things work at Bioware, but don't devs usually prepare the script, then the cutscenes, and then add the recorded voices over them? I.e. I remember Weekes saying they couldn't add the companions mourning Lavellan's dead clan because recording had been completed in DAI and they couldn't "reopen" the VA booths

I can only make a guess, but I’m not sure that some short dialogue lines from a select few VAs (one being the ‘The Big Deal & Placeholder-Title Titular Character, Gets Many Fans’ Attention’ person and the other two being BW being like ‘Omg guys look! Character focus! Character name and VA reveals! New info!’) in a first look, highly conceptual ‘mood test’ teaser means that VO is in full-swing if that makes sense. It wasn’t that long ago that DA4 was referred to as being in pre-production rather than saying “early production”.

[great insight into the VO process in gamesdev at that link btw] We know that DA4 isn’t that far along yet. Auditions, casting, early promo stuff (like lines in the vids we have), tests of stuff, maybe some early work etc, sure.
Also, some of the VAs in the BTS video looked like they were acting in their home environments. These might have been lines recorded on camera in their home studios or home spaces for the purposes of the video. I also have to wonder if the pandemic has set some things like this back some. The BioWare devs as we know have been working from home, and I would have thought that recording studios have also been closed of late due to the virus.
SAYING THAT.. A lot of VAs will be working from home quite a bit this year, and iirc many srs VAs do do work from home. And BW have worked with voiceactors when they were in their home spaces in the past.

I probably initially interpreted Charlotte’s illusion in Bloodlust as an ordinary fear-induced situation because in the books there’s this moment that made me set the book down and have to walk away for a few days. Up to that point, Meier Link and Charlotte’s love was pretty well established and almost a pure and good thing. And then Kikuchi has to throw a wrench in the works.
