This is, hands down, my favorite route I've climbed in Leavenworth. I've been on it maybe one hundred times, but only twice on the sharp end. The gear is a little finicky, you can't sew it up when you're scared, and even though I know the beta so well I could climb it blindfolded, the rock is just slick enough to cause hesitation. I cruised it on lead once last summer, and finally tried to lead it again last week. This picture doesn't show me fiddling with my gear too much, hesitating, hanging, and finally working up the nerve to make the high consequence crux moves. But that's really what happened, and that's why this is still my favorite climb in Leavenworth. The Nose of Jello Tower, Castle Rock, always ready to give the smackdown.
