books i read in 2017: a natural history of dragons (the memoirs of lady trent #1) by marie brennan
“Be warned, then: the collected volumes of this series will contain frozen mountains, foetid swamps, hostile foreigners, hostile fellow countrymen, the occasional hostile family member, bad decisions, misadventures in orienteering, diseases of an unromantic sort, and a plenitude of mud.”
Lady Trample, by Brooke Hernando/Dixxie Mae Graphics, 2020.
So the bootcamp is over, and it was such an amazing experience. I've learned so much and I can't wait to continue to work on the new skills they've taught me. Saturday I did a CIB session with Trample. Sunday I did wall work and offense with Brawn, spins and footwork with Trample, and jukes and jamming with Scald. I even hit Scald when she was juking and she complimented me on it! My ankle was in too much pain for me to do the whole bootcamp, so for the last hour I sat on the sidelines. I was sad to miss the class Scald was teaching but I got to talk one on one with Brawn and Trample which definitely made sitting out a lot more enjoyable. Before leaving I hugged them and thanked them because I truly can't express how much they inspire me to keep learning and growing in this amazing sport, and now bowl skating too!

Skate Parks: Know the Risk by Lady Trample read the article here: http://www.chicksinbowls.com/skate-parks-know-the-risk
I am learning how to drop in now that I have found some shorter ramps. My success rate depends on the steepness of the ramp but I can do it. I haven't really practiced coping stalls because it's hard for me to get up that high on the ramps that I have at the parks here and am still working on dropping back out of a stall in fakie (I can do a toe stop stall!)
Lady Trample is life.
How do I love thee, Lady trample? Let me count the ways....
1:General adorableness
-Super friendly and awesome
-Totes down to earth
-Did I mention shes only 22???!!!
-Even her freckles are damn adorable okay
-How can you not love that face
-Braids and tattoo sleeves and red lipstick??? *swoon*
2:Derby
-Powerhouse of awesome
-One of PCR (and NZs) best jammers
-Played in World Cup
3: Chicks in Bowls
So Trample decided that derby wasnt enough skating, and was a founder of the Chicks in Bowls movement, taking back skateparks from the realms of 12yo boys 5eva. Shes a fucking badass too, check out this chill.
And with that, I will leave you with a video of her tearing it up in a dress. Because why the hell not.
