That Don’t Impress Me Much # [Ladette feat. Hercules]

Lady was on time, for once. She was actually a few minutes early. Which was simply wild, if you knew Lady at all. However, she was trying to be at work as seldom as possible these days. It had never been her favorite, but these days, the dredge of it was truly awful.
Which meant she was eager to make Georgette and her mani-pedi appointment that they had in the next town over. She hadn’t pampered herself in so long! And she certainly needed it after that crazy dream world. She had taken her whole afternoon off!
She went to enter Hatter’s--which is where Georgette had mentioned they were meeting (she had some kind of lunch date thing)--but she happened to look over and noticed her friend sitting outside (with a boy?!)
“Georgette! Hey, girl!” Lady greeted enthusiastically as she made her way towards the blonde and her mysterious beau (whose back was to her.)
“I don’t think we’ve met before,” Lady said, turning her eyes quickly towards the man. “I’m Annette Grant, but you can call me Lady.” She held out her hand.
The man looked up, blinked, and then smiled and waved at her instead of taking her hand. Uhm, rude much?
“Oh, hello!” he said, in a thick weirdo accent, “I’m Hercules. I’ve heard a lot about you. We’re, uh, just finishing up.” He lifted the little tray with a credit card on it to indicate they were just waiting to pay.

The holidays were soon approaching and Georgette was still flying in the air the idea of maybe making a trip to the states and spending it there. Of course, she wouldn’t be with her family, but Gary was there and it would be nice to to get some business errands out of the way: photoshoots, her make-up, talk shows etc. (after the trial everyone has wanted to get a hold of Georgette for her end of the story).
Rory would be with her sorcerer beau (Georgette’s name for him though Rory always glared at her vehemently when she called him that), or so she assumed she would and so the blonde didn’t want to be alone. Alone didn’t sit well. Alone meant staying behind four walls reliving your demons and she was making steps forward from them, real adjusting and healthy steps.
She didn’t want to make any steps back.
And what better way to make travel decisions then a relaxing mani/pedi! For which she wouldn’t be alone for also as she had invited Lady to come with.
The brunette was just appearing as Georgette offered the woman a smile. She had only met the journalist recently, but she had been great company to have in their first meeting that the blonde was comfortable to proceed with a second. They seem to share similar taste.
“I’m glad that you were able to make it. I hope it wasn’t too difficult to find? And I promise you the service is great here. I wouldn’t step a foot in otherwise.”
Noughties Fashion - PHOTOGRAPHY DEVELOPMENTS 2.0 -
My second wave of developments based upon 90′s/early 2000′s fashion. Here, I have tried to make my sense of style more specific to ‘chav’ by demising high end fashion brands with the mixture of sport clothing. The use of women wearing football shirts was very much ‘ladette’ where women started engaging in the behaviour that was traditionally male such as binge drinking. Generally the 90′s was an era of proud heritage, where supporting football was in its prime and everyone would pop down to the local pub to watch the game, this is associated with other brands such as Fred Perry and Stone island that give off a “don't mess with me, I’m proud to be where I'm from” kind of attitude. As I learnt from my first shoot, I wanted to steer away from the POP culture kind of feel in the images. My models have experimented with a variety of different stern expressions, however I couldn't resist throwing in the lolly pops because they just give such a fun and nostalgic feel when combined with these clothing styles. Using these, I would like to experiment working on a really large scale in a photorealistic style. My main mediums I would like to respond with could potentially be ink, maybe ink with collaged background? and colour pencil. Me and paint aren't really getting on at the moment. I also really want to look into the concept of ‘ladettes’ and ‘chavs’ more and explore how I could use these images to present something related to these concepts, rather than just the idea of old revisited styles.
