Ā Laura could feel her heart crashing against her chest as they got deeper, away from the public, among the dark trees and paths of the park. Pebbles crunched underfoot, changing to damp leaves and wet soil but soon they were hidden, and for a moment Laura closed her eyes and imagined them back in Beacon Hills, going on a run with her family, with her mate too, their hearts beating in unison.Ā
