Whumptober #27: Voiceless | Laboratory

Your whumpee is kept in a laboratory to be tested on. They undergo many surgeries for the scientists to take samples, make modifications and conduct tests. If your whumpee has powers, maybe they’re trying to find the source/to what extent the powers affect the whumpee. If they’re a creature-of-sorts, maybe they’re trying to study their body/see how they can genetically recreate their traits. Maybe your whumpee is just human, but due to their advanced skill set, the scientists go looking for some super-human aspects that just aren't there. 

Due to the nature of the surgeries, the whumpee is almost always intubated. However, the scientists are far from careful when doing so/removing the tube. This results in the whumpee’s vocal cords being damaged. As a result, they feel even more helpless as they can’t even articulate curses at their torturers, nor can they comfortably talk/sing to themselves when they’re alone.

She took on this job not realizing the conditions and risks. She’s constantly overtired, pushed to her limits to complete deadlines all while handling highly dangerous test subjects and hazardous materials. It’s only a matter of time until she forgets to lock a cage or mixes the wrong reactants.

Having access to important information, xe’s tracked down by people who want xem to open a safe or use xir credentials to access a data bank. These insurgents will use any means necessary to get the information from xem, but xe won’t betray xir integrity so easily.

I made a focking setting

Abi keeps a bunch of pet geckos in the lab that she uses as test subjects for her experiments, and as pets in general. She’d love to be able to take them home, but unfortunately they are classified as hazardous private property of the organisation she’s in.

toymaker tord: i wanted to give him a surname that has like. a cool meaning? ill fuss around with that later. honestly it would make sense for him to have a weird, cartoon-ass surname considering the tone of his original universe?

-had his own universe; now lives and works full-time at the lab. -his original universe had a super jokey, childish tone to it. considering that the lab is somewhere between portal, resident evil, and the stanley parable in tone, he had a very bad time coming over. -has a very sharp, raspy voice. -again, made most of the security for the labs. for the most part you cant see the biological aspects to his robots, and many of them are fully mechanical. their designs vary from securitron-style bruisers and teddy-bear-skinned cyborgs to wind-up robots in primary colours. he likes to put horns on them but usually isnt allowed to. -can be very philosophical but despises spending time around people from ‘whimsical, stupid’ worlds. kind of just a dick actually -likes anime, but likes cartoons and robotics more. has a little devil logo he uses for himself -is short as fuck -paranoid, but not paranoid enough -has been working at the lab for a very long time. -nosy sponsor of all things mad science. not INTERESTED in other types of science, just delighted to weaponize them -might not remember his original universe friends

setting: Dungeon Gauntlet

amount of players: 2-4

genre: fantasy, sci-fi

focus: combat, puzzles, basic rpg stuff

explanation: a version of one one of the 4 main boys summons alternate versions of his friends to complete a prophecy to save the world. dungeon (or dungeons) based on episodes, ie, a zombie+undead based dungeon, a wtfuture-based futurepunk robot dungeon, a clone-based dungeon, an underwater dungeon. possibly collecting relics from each dungeon in order to complete a ritual. things might not be what they seem; originals from this world may not actually be dead. character options: ideally the heroes would be from combat-based worlds, but some sort of rpg-esque system of skills or items (relics obtained?) could be used to support non-combat based characters

setting: Mandatory Tournament

amount of players: 2+

genre: action, adaptable

focus: combat, character interaction

explanation: various versions of the same character (likely tords tbhhhhh) are brought to engage in a tournament to find the 'best' version of themself. thrown by an eccentric figure that may or may not be a tord that may or may not be just trying to create a super-army somehow out of their collected tords. alternatively inevitably wants to kill them all to take over their worlds. either way its basically just a dragon ball z tournament where you can have your tords see how they compare to other tords. like a dogshow for tords but with more blood

amount of players: 2-4

genre: well its pokemon <3

focus: combat, character interaction, being pokemon <3

explanation: look whether they previously know each other or not i think there could be some really fun activities and options for this one. could brainstorm roles for background characters. could involve mega evolutions. character options: honestly super adaptable. could work from zero and have memory loss, could have them remember being who they were before, could have them just being pokemon in the world and having always been pokemon, like theres just lots of options

setting: Nightmare Lab

genre: horror, mystery

focus: combat, stealth

explanation: your character is summoned through a portal to a mysterious lab for an interview about their world. things go horribly wrong, and they have to escape the laboratory (which is more of an underground complex than anything else) while nightmarish body horror creatures from the various worlds attempt to break free.

focus: character interaction
