“...he got away...” she mumbled, head down apologetically. Her brown eyes--which were a mix of anger and apology--refused to gaze at the superior directly, merely staring at the ground. She never realized how fascinating cement was until now.
Higuchi had been sent on a solo motion to retrieve an object of importance from a highly troublesome group who had been nothing but a nuisance for the past several weeks; they’ve been storming into Port Mafia casinos and territories with the intent of robbery. Most squadrons have managed to apprehend the individuals in question, and put them to the test under extraordinarily painful interrogations; however, there were the clever few who got away. In one such instance, a particular man had taken something of high-key value from the Port Mafia headquarters; what it was and how he had managed to get out alive in the first place was beyond Higuichi, but it wasn’t her place to ask such questions.
When she had managed to finally corner him though, he had managed to do another disappearing act and give her the slip--Higuchi’s firearms did very little to help in such a scenario. She had traversed almost all of Yokohama to look for him and apprehend the said individual, but to no avail. Eventually, Higuchi gave up and went to give her report; either they give the task to someone else or she will just have to start over once again tomorrow. By then though, he might have slipped out of Yokohama and, hence, out of Port Mafia territory. She had one shot of catching the man and, even then, he slipped through her fingers. How disappointing.
“...he’s nowhere to be found; I’ve checked everywhere I could possibly think of to find a man like that. It’s...it’s possible he might not even be in Yokohama anymore, sir...”
i failed...again...how aggravating
“...what should we do now, sir?” Higuchi asked, voice soft.
