โdrenchedโ
It poured harshly, the skies darkened with clouds that shifted and stirred with thunder and lightening the very sky shuddered with each crack of thunder. Flashes of light drowning out the darkness after each boom of sound that tore across the cloud covered sky. At first there was nothing. And then there was a figure. The world stood silent, the thunder pausing upon itโs arrival and only theย smooth continuous sound of rain remained. The figure was soaked from head to toe, the burlap cloth sunken in against itโs metal skeleton clinging to the rusted metal beneath. Itโs head sunk down low nearly pressed down against its chest weighed down with water the eye hole crudely shut from the weight of water. Even so the illumination of itโs lantern is what really made its presence known. The fire lit wick fluttering harshly as the wind blew the lantern this way and that. Odd mummerings and hushed whispers began to slowly creep from the creature itโs body swaying lightly in the wind as crude mockeries of voices spoke out with raspy grasps and hushed growls. โA storm brews today.โ โษษฏษษฏ ploษ sแด uแดษษน วษฅโดโ โItโs geeeting LATE pleaseee can we go home now?โ โDid you hear that?โ โ?taht raeh uoy diDโ โNot afraid of a little LIGHTENNNING are yoooouu?โ
It didnโt seem to be talking to anyone. It spoke rapidly, often over itself and even answering itself. Even repeating the same phrases over to itself in different ways. Perhaps it was unaware of the other, or perhaps itโs head was in other places. Even so it fell limp and quiet a few moments later once more the sound of rain took over the still air.
