Same they make me insane in a good way

SO this is the weirdest WIP I have in a specific way. That specific way? It's not fantasy. It's not sci fi. It is pre apocalyptic. It is meant to take place in the near future, when society on the brink of the brink of collapse. Things are bad, but worse is on its way

This has barely anything to do with the plot. The plot is half a dozen tropes in a trench coat. It's very important to me

Kyvis themselves, on the other hand! Is Kate Davis (soon to be ex professional thief) and Kyle Chambers (law enforcement officer). They are. Honestly I don't pick favorite OCs but these two are everything to me and have been for like. Three and a half years. They have banter and enemies to lovers but I'm trying to make it realistic and not like. Weird. And they're both imperfect but I LOVE THEM and Kate makes Kyle laugh even when he pretends like she didn't and they both love The Mummy and I just. THEY MAKE ME FEEL THINGS OKAY. And yes I am telling you practically nothing about the plot I RECOGNIZE this but suffice to say it is like. Modern romance novel/procedural drama/slice of life/Christianity is there also. It's SO many things at once and I love it deeply and it's not gonna fit any niches. But it's so important to me

Anyhow I've been writing bits and pieces of it here and there for years now. Someday it'll be published (I have a cover idea and a title for this book. Look at me. I don't have a title for book 2. Understand how insane that fact is) but who knows when!

7: Which character confessed their feelings first? (and how was it? What did they do? How were they feeling?) For Rita and Kazinsky....my instinct is to Kazinsky, though Rita's the more effusive of the two. I can see her knowing first and waiting for him to catch up. And when he knows it, he's not gonna lie to RITA. So he tells her, and she's like "yeah me too", and they figure out where to go from there. For Kyvis....lol. You KNOW THIS Kate confesses first and it GOES. It for sure goes. How she was feeling...terrified but not for the reasons you would think ANYWAY

9: What are their love languages? Already answered for Kyvis! Rita is gift giving and words of affirmation. Kazinsky is probably acts of service (sensing a theme among my male characters) and, oddly, words of affirmation? Not overly so, but if he wants someone to know that they're valued, he tells them. Emphatically. He keeps it simple but people believe him, you know? I can also see him as physical touch but SPECIFICALLY with Rita. Maybe Clifton, circumstancially

14: What are their core values? For Kyvis, it's pretty simple. Kyle's values are centered around his family and doing the right thing no matter how hard, no matter what. He's a rule follower and a do gooder and I love him. Kate is a little more...morally fluid. She's more of a follow your heart girl. But at her very center she cares about helping people, and loving them. They both have very good hearts, which is why they work so well together. Rita and Kazinsky are similiar in that way, but Kazinsky's more likely to break the rules of his world and boss if it helps other people. They're both good with people (in wildly different ways) while Kyle is...not super friendly. But he's deeply kind. Okay ramble over!

17: Is there a couple from another piece of media you could use as a reference? For Kyvis this was already answered but...FINE I'll say it. Galen and Saville from Valiant definitely helped inspire them. Not in a conscious way, but in a "this shaped my brain and I love these tropes so much that they snuck into my writing" way. Rita and Kazinsky are...honestly? Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows. But way more emotionally healthy. There's also genderswapped Zoyalai vibes, too

4: In what areas would they help one another grow? This is the perfect question for these two. For Jarina: Jack encourages Marina in her confidence, and helps her explore the world more (let's not get into how that came about). Marina, on the other hand, helps Jack realize he needs to let go of his need for control and have faith in the Author! For Kyvis: Ehehehehe. Kate helps Kyle grow in the area of letting go and having fun, and he helps her grow to trust people. They both do that, actually!

9: What are their love languages? For Jarina: Jack is probably quality time or acts of service. Only occasionally are those acts crime. Marina also seems like quality time, with maybe some words of affirmation in there, too! For Kyvis: Kyle BLEEDS acts of service and quality time. Kate, on the other hand, miiiiiight be physical touch?

17: Is there a couple from another piece of media you could use as a reference? LOL now I KNOW this is because you saw my post on Instagram this morning. For Jarina...Brenna and Ronan from Healer, by Linda Windsor. They're kinda the inspiration behind them. For Kyvis, too many options to NAME. I literally have a list. Jericho and Stella from The Wickedest Town by McKenzie Catron are up there, though! (and yes they're also kinda Eugene and Rapunzel)
