Oh hey, it's my favorite archetype: guy with clear personal ethics living in a fascist society who gets exposed to the wider world and has to deal with finding out everything they thought they were fighting for was mostly lies to prop up the existing power structure.

TLDR:

Discharges: As of June 1, 2026, the Court of Appeals has temporarily STOPPED forced discharges via an injunction in Talbott v. USA. GLAD Law is fighting this.

Enlistment: If you have ever been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, you are still banned from enlisting. The injunction pauses the kick-outs, not the keep-outs.

Selective Service: This part is still active and deeply unfair. Trans women must register for the Selective Service within 30 days of turning 18, even if they have legally or medically transitioned. Trans men are not required to register (but may opt-in). If you don't register, you will need to request a Status Information Letter (SIL) to access government services like Medicaid, SNAP, and FAFSA.

The Reality on the Ground: If separation happens, it is categorized as HONORABLE.

TRICARE/VA: Do not cover medically necessary gender-affirming care.

Grooming, Uniforms, Housing, Pronouns: All of these are determined strictly by sex assigned at birth. There are no neutral options.

If a Draft occurs: All trans people conscripted are technically eligible for an exemption when reporting for the examination.
