Kill Your Heroes is committed to creating a community that is inclusive, collaborative, and welcoming to all. We ask that our members keep this in mind in their interactions, and to treat others with respect and kindness. 

Our staff team has a zero tolerance policy for bullying, hate speech, and prejudice of any kind. All are welcome at KYH regardless of gender, race, sexuality, or any other marginalizations. 

We believe that roleplaying is most enjoyable when there is collaboration, and urge members to consider others in the choices they make with their characters.

While we encourage members to work out disagreements amongst themselves whenever possible, our staff team is happy to serve as mediators for any conversations where members need support or guidance. Please reach out to staff if you need assistance with these matters!

CONTENT

KYH is a premium jcink site, and we require all members to be at least 18 years old in order to join. We encourage our members to explore themes and topics that interest them, including those that might be considered dark and upsetting to some. However, we ask that proper care is taken to ensure that those who don’t wish to participate in these threads and conversations are protected from viewing content that might upset them. We want our members to feel comfortable interacting and collaborating with others on our site.

Threads: Threads with mature content must be marked with an [m] in the thread title, while threads with triggering or otherwise upsetting content must be marked with a [cw] in the thread title. Posts with triggering or otherwise upsetting content should be marked with a trigger warning. You can find our tw code in the New Topic (or Add Reply) box, on the top rightmost side. 

We recommend tagging any thread that includes content related to phobic behavior, lack of consent in sexual situations, sexual activity between family members, abuse, cheating/infidelity, large age gaps, extreme violence and/or gore, death, and disease. Additionally, please be mindful of the triggers listed in other members’ profiles.

Discord: The same rules apply within our Discord server. We have a #nsfw area for more sexually-geared discussion and a #venting channel for potentially upsetting discussions. These member-only channels need to be opted into using our #roles channel. Please keep anything 18+ within these channels, as not all members will choose to opt into viewing them. 

When talking about potentially upsetting content, please use the following format: tw: trigger here ||spoiler over content||. 

If you see anything that isn’t tagged properly, either on the site or within our Discord, please reach out to the member directly or contact staff, and we will assist in making sure that things are tagged appropriately.

ACTIVITY

Roleplay is a hobby, not a jobby! However, we want to make sure that our members are active and writing the characters that they have already created. Your first 5 characters are free. After that, you will need 10 IC posts (thread replies or comms) on each approved character to be granted additional character spots. You can request these additional spots in our #moderation channel in Discord. 

To be considered active, you must fulfill ONE of the following requirements every two weeks:

1 normal thread reply,

5 replies to a communication thread, or

1 written development post over 200 words

We do not have a word count for posts, and will not be checking post length during activity checks (outside of written development posts). We encourage all members to talk to their writing partners about style and preferences. 

Occasionally, formal activity checks will take place. More details about these formal checks will come later! If you are found to be inactive, staff will open a ticket in the Discord server informing you of the character(s) that have been lapsed, and you will have 72 hours to save your character(s) before they are archived. 

If your character gets archived due to inactivity, you will have to wait 72 hours to resubmit the character in question. Staff holds the right to deny any characters that are resubmitted, especially if there is a pattern of lapsed activity. All resubmissions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

As always, real life comes first. If you are unable to meet the requirements, please submit an absence to this thread. We will respect long absences, but may reach out if we notice patterns of long absences and feel like activity needs to be discussed. Communication is key, so please let us know about these instances as proactively as possible. We want to be flexible to your needs, while also maintaining activity standards for all members. 

While you are on absence, we will not accept any characters that you create and submit for approval. Staff also reserve the right to deny character applications if a member has repeated patterns of inactivity, or displays the inability to keep up with characters that are already approved. We encourage creativity, but we also want to make sure that members are fully utilizing the characters that they have created.

THREADS

Threads without any activity after 2 months will be archived. You can ask to unarchive threads in the #moderation channel on our Discord server. 

Rules are subject to change if staff sees fit. However, all changes will be announced in our Discord and on KYH. Our guidebook will be kept up to date with the most current information.
