&; hack attack }
no one beats jeongguk at his own game-- except for one identified hacker, apparently. clearly he didnāt make the mpdās security strong enough. maybe he slipped up, and got too complacent and comfortable. he shouldāve noticed the attack when it happened, too, instead of later, when he found the few footprints the hacker left in his wake; if it was anyone other than jeongguk doing his job in the mpd, maybe the mystery hacker wouldnāt have been noticed. maybe they would continue on none the wiser.
jeongguk, however, knows, and it perturbs him to his core. he spent an entire day strengthening the mpdās security, trying to mimic the hackerās way in breaking through so he could increase their defense from any similar attacks. he suspects itās gang work, unless itās some vigilante wanting to uncover information on a cold case inaccessible to the public. with jeonggukās paranoia, he always has to assume the worst.
instead of fixating too much on his failure, he focused on how to fix it. the mpd hired him for his hacking and his knowledge, so he put it to good use and tried to track his new enemy. he stayed vigilant, always watching, waiting for another attempt to break through their newly strengthened security.Ā
after some time, he had a lead: something he tracked back to brewed awakening. all he knew was the location-- no idea what device was used, or who, but it was a start. he can kill two birds with one stone, really; heāll never say no to some coffee.
he stands in line, laptop bag over his shoulder, and when itās his turn to order his drink, he steps up to the counter.Ā āhi,ā he greets flatly.Ā āiāll just take a black coffee.ā he takes in the barista, committing his appearance to his memory, suspicious of everyone here. while he waits for his drink, he takes note of every detail he can.
