I'm gonna start by listing some articles, in order to scare the twenty year old minors and the 30 year old enablers who are desperate for their approval yet get into fights with actual minors (who shouldn't even BE in this discussion) because they dont understand that yes, even the icky stuff THEY like is on the chopping block:

So now that THOSE guys have been scared away, because we all know that they don't actually read therapy or have any sort of professional practice or even background in these social issues, let's get into the nitty gritty on MY stance on Kwei/Dek

Historically speaking, m/m incest ships are largely a result of a few key factors:

there are little no female characters written with enough depth in comparison to the male characters (Supernatural, tmnt, etc)

the chemistry between the non-blood related ACTORS ends up making their on-screen sibling dynamic seem more lascivious than their scripts indented (for instance, when actors who play siblings start dating or are attracted to one another, think Life With Derek or even Wizards of Waverly Place)

the sibling relationship portrayed on screen is ALREADY by a non-traditional dynamic between the two (parentified siblings, for instance) that leads fans to want to take it to the nth degree (again supernatural, but also stuff like FMA, blue exorcist)

the sibling relationship is ALREADY abusive, and fans want to take it to the nth degree (todorokicest, uchihacest etc)

there's a variety of other factors of course! gooning included, and that's why the above listed articles are there for anyone to explore why these fics exists, and what they mean for us as a fandom, and how these fans treat it for good and yes even for bad

For the Yautja Fandom Specifically:

incest has never been such a huge trend in the yautja tags across social media OR archives like ao3. And no, it's not because Yautja fandom won the morality awards, but because very little of Yautja media MEETS the criteria listed above.

For instance, thought Scar/Celtic/Chopper DOES exist, and has for years you have to literally go LOOKING for fanworks of this variety, because truthfully....there is nothing THERE for most fanfic writers to explore.

the trio of AvP have the personalities of sandpaper. Celtic and Chopper could be anyone's fave, yet works involving them are basically relegated to OC fodder. WE have to give them backgrounds, and personalities, and a dynamic to lend itself to that kind of exploration

FURTHERMORE, Scar/Lex, being problematic in and of itself, takes the place of most fans needs and wish fulfillments. Unlike the criteria above, we SEE Alexa as a well-rounded character. We know ALOT about her, and are interested in HER, at times, MORE than the Yautja in the film, who are basically just paper dolls for us to project our fantasies toward.

There's FAR more interactions and inner monologue about how Scar feels about Lex in things like the novelization than there is ANYTHING about how he feels about his dead brothers.

so because there's nothing to explore there unless you wanna do ALOT of heavy lifting, most people are not tantalized into writing scar/chopper/celtic incest anyway

this is, clearly, NOT the case with kwei/dek:

we already see a HUGE different between how the trio was portrayed, and how this duo is portrayed. Kwei has already risked his life for his brother, going AGAINST the Yautja Code to even keep him alive, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if this dynamic LENDS itself to the above critieria.

Obviously, i personally feel that Dekthia has far more meat to satisfy most shippers. Not only is Thia a well-rounded character, she spend the majority of the film w Dek and will presumably spend MANY more stories with him. Even i was shocked at how....GOOD they crafted this ship, and will only stop writing for it when i am literally physically unable to lol

But as stated above! when a piece of media has so little characters to play with, and some of them are written VERY FUCKING WELL, folks wanna sit down and get those weird, unconventional feelings out

so there's no TELLING how much Kwei has ignited the freak parts of the fandom

For instance, Kwei/Dek already is against the Yautja Code platonically, Kwei is believed to be one of the ONLY parental influences on him, so it's already an unhealthy sibling dynamic (yes parentified siblings IS unhealthy), they both suffer horrific abuse from their father,.................

it's really funny that i'm the one writing about this, particularly, because sibling incest is laughably enough one of my triggers, depending on the kind of dynamic is presented. I'm not the kind self-victimizing person who runs around telling complete strangers that they're romanticizing shit that triggers me, because i'm not insane and these people dont know me, least of all are thinking of me when they goon.

this kind of approach is a form of self-harm btw. If even thinking about this stuff is enough to lead you to post incredibly personal vents on social media where everyone can see, and you do so OFTEN, you are self-harming. and it astounds me how many people encourage SH so often on these sites.

anyway, i will never disclose WHY the things that trigger me trigger me, because people can make up whatever they want. If they're making up fanfic about my reasoning anyway, they might as well get creative.

MY POINT is that we can talk about this subject WITHOUT saying the usual and tired tirade of "if you write this your a degenerate because I SAY SO and IM triggered and MY therapy says it BAD" because that's all self-absorbed nonsense!

An individual is responsible for THEMSELF. Always. Therapy is different for EVERYONE. There are so many factors and variations to take into account when we speak about these things, that i bores me to tears when someone attempts to make personal arguments when clearly, there's a whole SCHOLARSHIP dedicated to analysis why this trope has existed in fictional media for CENTURIES.

if you are not EDCUATING yourself into WHY these things exist, let alone why we know its ICKY, than your opinions factually dont matter! One's personal anecdotes are meaningless! MY personal anecdotes are meaningless! It's all in the theory of these works. Not what we THINK we know or feel.

All this to say that it is IMPOSSIBLE to POLICE these works from existing in a fandom that is almost as old as our youngest GRANDPARENTS.

it is ABSOLUTELY possible to encourage harassment, and i would think people like this:

are irresponsible attention seekers who put real people at risk of death/rape threats, doxing, and others forms of real-life violence.

because these people CANT have it both ways! You cannot consider something to be as SERIOUS as csam or incest , and then go onto refer to it as "tea". You can either take these serious topics with the amount of respect they deserve or you dont.

they dont. which is why they use this language in the first place. they dont respect the severity of the issue. they water down terms. they trigger victims. they tell other victims to die.

One cannot equivalate real life things like incest and csem, and when someone goes to look, it's fanart of the adult actor Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi playing Dek where he's *checks notes* giving Thia a mating mark.

to compare what actual sexual predators DO to REAL victims in HORRIFC situations to a sci-fi space opera is absurd.

to "regulate" fiction is like pushing a boulder uphill: ya aint going to do it.

You can be responsible! you can tell others that they are ALLOWED to dislike it, but not in a way that puts real people at risk. call-outs, harassment campaigns, screenshots meant to "cancel" - because those are REAL crimes.

None of these people are even old enough to realize it, but those who are know they are skirting the line of cyber-crime. That at the end of the day Elliot Stabler of SVU fame is gonna look at the person w kwei/dek fics in their documents and look at the person who make a callout post about the kwei/dek writer encourages their follower base to suicide bate them and WHO do you think Officer Stabler is going to arrest?

Thought Crime is not a thing, boils and ghouls.

SO, though i can't say IF i will write any kwei/dek myself, due to personal reasons rip, I know it'll exists in a somewhat solid measure, and if i find myself legitimately triggered by it, i would NEVER think to condemn the people who write/draw it as being sickos or whatever the fuck these people call the backbone of fandom culture

Anyway. It sounds to me that you're interested in writing some stupid sexy threeway action, anon, and aren't hiding behind the "its not gay incest if its in a three way" excuse, so i commend you for your efforts and encourage you to tag your fic as a "spitefic" because god knows we NEED more of those in fandom

the MORE we write what we wanna see in the world out of spite, the less power these conservative moralists have to feel emboldened enough to harass others.

these people dont even like the noncon-yautja writers! And they make up 70% of the entire fandom! i've been in this fandom since gradeschool, i've seen it all. And there's never a "I think it's okay EXCEPT" because those of us who are paying attention to how the world works, KNOW that's now how censorship works

I don't think kwei/dek is any more scary than anything else these people are saying we can't do. dekthia included! cuz they hate us anyway, let me tell you. It's GOING to exist, the people who write it are NOT criminals or any nonsense thing, and it is SO avoidable that these people are making up incest boogeymen and fighting themselves.
