Similar to the previous post, but this time about the old drawings of the Kuujaa of Servant Morticia.
With hundreds of thousands of years, many kind of creature with intelligence have risen and fallen, and during the humanoid-driven cultures of the lands the followers of Morticia have risen and then hidden themselves all across the lands. Living in communes, on occasion in tribes, they are speckled in all sorts of waterways, rivers, oasis, and oceans, with the aim of isolation to live in reverence of the murky, wish-granting Swamp Deity.
It has all evolved long ago in the more humanoid Era of Yeteoa from a single wish to be closer to the likeness of the Wishgranter, and eventually devolving supernaturally into a cult. Kuujaa are still in the process of creation, and nearly all of the water-peoples originate from different kinds of humans and other humanoids, neatly having their flesh and abilities reshaped by their Deity. They even have evolved into their own languages, with different dialects depending on region, and many an outsider find it hard to learn this language.
They follow myriad of rules, and while rare, have thrown out or killed those who would disrespect their god, their prophets, and their communities - these Uninemes are hated by those still living strong in faith.
While divided into four categories, there are generally only three types of Kuujaa. Incomplete Kuujaa of two camps, Freshwater Lushten, and Saltwater Vastdivers. And those who are complete and able to conceive Kuujaa children on their own, are Ghillsingers. Ghillsinger can still be Lushten or Vastdiver, but not all of the Lushten and Vastdivers are Ghillsingers. Incomplete Kuujaa still conceive children that are of their original species, and also still hold larger variance of different looks, while those completing the transformation process are more uniform... Yet even they still crave for even more modifications to resemble their deity just a little bit more.
Lushten and Vastdivers have differences as well suited for their lives in different bodies of water, and may have sea creature-like alterations based on their local species, as they can work as their additional source of inspiration.
All Kuujaa are expected to obey to rules of conformity, and avoid/or push away outsiders, unless it is related to some kind of conversion. There is nuance to situations though.
Being the local mer-folk of Yeteoa, this is what Yeteoans dream of when imagining their own mermaids. There are many specific jobs in the Kuujaa communities, all of which are attempts to reinforce even more culture and belief.
Eventually there are cases when someone of their own is cast out, and it is one bloody affair if the target is caught, and not gone in the dark of night to avoid confrontations... or doing something in that vein. Uninemes they are called in the Kuujaa tongue. Morticia cares not for those sorry creatures lives if the offense is great enough, or hurts a travelling Prophet and their Silent One.
And there is a curious meeting at the last picture, the Whirlwind-Weaver, and someone of the Kuujaa youngsters, Marinetail. There are certain Lamia who are daring and curious about the Kuujaa, and some Kuujaa who secretly are curious of the children of Earth Mother. Children of different "Gods", meeting, can become a complicated situation, but for these two, it is uniquely peaceful.
This set could also do an additional rework, but its more than enough to have these available and easy to dig up again. I did write a lot more than I ever intended, but that's what happens when I get into the zone. It's been years since I made these, so many years. Kind of closely together with the Lamia set.
