Every Now and Then Throughout the Day Stop for a Moment and Turn the Mind Within - Let the Mind Rest at the Kutastha
Question: How do we learn to keep the attention at the Kutastha even during the activity of the day?
Only one way: through practice. When you are carrying on your duties, your attention should be on what you are doing; that is vital. But every now and then throughout the day it is possible to stop for a moment - whatever you are doing, anywhere - and just let the mind rest at the Kutastha.
Truthfully, it becomes automatic after a while. When I’m busy with many things in connection with Paramahansaji’s work, every now and then I’ll pause and turn my mind within; in an instant that throbbing presence of the Divine is there - that joyous, loving presence of God. This you will find, if you cultivate the habit. Anytime you have a few moments free, sit quietly, bring the mind back to the Kutastha, and say, “My Lord, bless me” - or some other simple thought that comes from your heart.
As time goes on, you will find that more and more your mind rests at that point, no matter what you are doing. Your consciousness becomes spiritualized.
