These are historic floods. I was in the Kgalagadi in Feb 2026 (this year) and it hadn't rained there like that for over 50 years. I'm still processing photographs, but follow me on Trolleng's VisitSA for more on that.

This is gonna have to be a longpost about what's actually going on in the oldest desert region on Earth.
spoiler: it was a mini landslide caused by an elephant (I presume in Kruger Park).
The desert is green and Karoo National Park must be especially amazing right now!
