Delighted to hear from Bill Jaffe that Shelley finally received the secret portrait I recently did of her last night for her birthday. Apparently she's thrilled with me turning her into a Patrick Nagel girl. . . The reference photos that I was given were from the 80s and so strongly suggested that era, that I begged the patron to let me try it in the Nagel style. . . A special thanks to type guru Ina Saltz who was able to work with a screen-shot I took of a Jacques Pepin mid-80s cooking show, and with the help of fellow type geek Donald Partyka, these 2 geniuses were able to determine the type-face for "Shelley" is Empire Bold. Bravo! . . Finally I feel I may share with you what I've been doing the last several weeks: a commissioned portrait of @mbmilne and baby girl. . . A billion (give or take) layers of thin glazes of acrylic paint on a wooden panel.
