ℐn her past life, she was nothing more than a hindrance to her father. She was not male, she was not in line to rule, and therefore she was given what she wanted. She was given an education and freedom to go out and write her own stories. It was planned that she would marry and give up her Imperial title without any hesitance, unless the sexist laws changed
𝓢o she stood by her father, and her grandfather until that fateful day when her life was changed and her family was no longer the figurehead family-- and the word ℰmperor carried weight again.
𝓢he didn't remember much of the take over, she was overseas, and called back in a hush, political blackout made it hard to get in touch with her own advisors, and then her grandfather was dead. 'He had always had heart issues' her grandmother had stated through the tears and handkerchief. Her father was going to be Emperor, but the political discord made it unlikely that he would arise to the throne--
𝒜narcy lead to a split in political factions, and the Imperial family gathered as those who swept in took their place.
𝒢undam Tanaka-- was enthroned upon the Chrysanthemum Throne. And even though she was never an heir to the throne, she felt ousted, until his party made it clear that due to her good standing in the public eye-- that she would be kept alive during this time, that she would be used as a political pawn, to sway the people into thinking that this step into Imperialism was a good idea, and the most dreadful thing was that it worked. Her people were entranced and ensnared by the devilishly handsome good looks of Tanaka, along with his commoner name, but keeping her close allowed him to give him the air of nobility.
𝓢he was angry-- but she was grateful.
ℋer uncle was a sham who made nothing but bad decisions. Tanaka was someone who could lead her country back to prosperity, but she lost her freedom in the process, she was now eternally shackled to the Imperial Palace without a shred of hope for freedom until the country was more secure, but updates about the discord and despair in the nation were far and few between, and she could not rely on news sources that were so obviously controlled.
ℋeels clicked upon the tiled floors, she knew this path well, she was seeking an audience with the new Emperor-- as she was one of the only ones in the former Imperial Family that could, for her father and uncles were disposed of. Her male cousin had been spared, at the tender age of eight the people would have cried out in bloody murder if their favourite prince had disappeared in the same boating accident that had claimed her father and uncles. Guards stopped her now, her grandfather had kept an open chamber, so she now had to request a time with the new Emperor, however, she was ushered through without much fanfare, and the nervousness arose. Hands smoothed over her dress, making herself presentable-- that was much more of a worry now...
"ℰmperor..." She started-- before she fell into a deep bow, "You look well...how was your recent trip--"
𝒮he did this for many reasons, waiting with a long pause before she spoke again. "I was awaiting your return perhaps now we could discuss my family's living arrangements-- and why we are still kept within the Palace walls? My father is dead, as is my grandfather, you stand unopposed."
