I just thought to myself "Wait, did the lizard people conspiracy took off because someone read waaayyy too much Kull?" And I checked and yes, it is a strong theory and pretty solid assertion: that the American conspiracy theorists of the "reptilian" branch had their ideas shaped by Robert E. Howard's writings about the "Serpent People" (though they are also present in the works of other prominent members of the Lovecraft circle, like Clark Ashton Smith).
Which does not surprise me. After all the Otherkin phenomenon literaly began with Tolkien fans believing they were reincarnation of his elves, down to claiming his Elvish was their natural language...
