Sacred Love/Sacred Lives

Disabled Lives are Sacred
I completed these three pieces late in 2022 and decided this would be a series of 108 pieces. As of this posting (Feb 10, 2025) I have completed 40 pieces total, 8 of which have been collaborations incorporating the work of other artists with their permission.

Descriptions:
These are three mixed-media embroidery pieces in 6inch round hoops.
The first depicts an image of a cherry tree in blossom, the trunk bent to the right after a branch has fallen off. The text: Disabled Lives Are Sacred is stitched in a half circle around the top left of the hoop.
The second depicts an image of a striped tea cup sitting on a saucer. The cup is rainbow and the saucer is in the trans colours. A string from a tea bag hangs outside the cup, running down to a washi paper tag in that looks like the Intersex pride flag. The text: Queer Lives are Sacred is stitched in a half circle around the top left of the hoop.
The third depicts a blue sky background with pink fluffy clouds, the combo in trans colours. There are dark maroon flowers, hollyhocks, embroidered on the right side of the image. Three origami butterflies are glued to the piece, two on the front main image, and one up on the edge of the embroidery hoop. The text: Trans Lives are Sacred is stitched in a half circle around the top left of the image.
