I wasn't able to see TDWP2 in cinemas due to location and circumstance, so I've had to undergo the painful act of waiting until this movie was added to streaming. Watched it last night :DDDDDDD (massive textblock incoming) tl;dr Wonderful movie, 9/10, I'm utterly feral
Overall, PEAK movie imo :D I feel like the way the trailer was edited didn't really do the full thing justice - it didn't spoil things, which was good, but the flow of the actual movie and everything was significantly better than how the trailer makes it out to be. Not a bad thing necessarily though <3
It was really a lot more about creative integrity and how so much of that world is being diluted and fucked over by modern society, which I was surprised by (they really don't give much of a hint for what happens other than "for some reason, the gang has met again!! damn!! also nostalgia for film one™" in the trailers and shorter plot descriptions, which in my opinion is really good, I was able to enjoy it a lot better) I did enjoy that more serious side of things a lot, though. Them making it clear how harmful the destruction of those industries is was wonderful as someone who cherishes creative work. Overall that side of plot was well executed, thank you to the writers 🫶
You knew it was coming. The gay. Is there just as much, if not more, serving of subtext as the first film? Fuck yeah!!! [Me when person who's supposed to be my BUSINESS ENEMY because she is SCREWING OVER MY COMPANY and yet I treat her with nothing but jolly jovialism and am basically always happy to see her and also stare at her several times in visible pain and yearning when she's with her rich but very stupid boyfriend] - Andrea Sachs, probably I may be a sachston shipper but by god did they serve both the sachston and mirandy communities.
oh also can't forget one of the most comedic moments of the entire movie being someone literally dying and the following funeral 🔥 Emily's freaking rant about how terrible everyone's FUNERAL-GOING OUTFIT was while her useless simp of a boyfriend was like "I can't believe there's someone called Candle!" (meanwhile secret third option andy stands there listening empathetically) also the. the. the freaking random loredrop "I never slept with a colleague!" "👀" "Okay maybe one" "👀" "Okay maybe two" "😏" "But only the poor but attractive ones, never anyone who could get me promoted-!!" Anyway you know for the purpose of deviousness that the shippers will choose the "ackshully andy SPECIFIED that because she's fucking lying, that gay bitch" route and I will agree because y e s . there's so many things I loved about this a a aa (collapses)
