OVERDUE MEMEÂ // NOT ACCEPTING
Oh the ways he count take advantage of this situation. Neither of them can dance; cursed to two left feet and hearing the man speak about some sort of square jig being his only experience. Itâs an awkward sort of feeling. Better than his prior attempts to enjoy his time with another come to find the intensity of his surroundings all too much to bear.
Here? In the comforts of home, away from the crowds and chaotic lights or noises, he could relax. Focus on thinking his way through this minute problem of theirs.
He knows nothing but the basics of ballroom dancing. Several practice runs when your only dancing partner choices were either one of many pet rats tied to a propeller or ones own embarrassing mother meant he was quite the expert of doing things solo. Still, it was worth the shot, wasnât it? If all those romantic flicks heâd watched and re-watched repeatedly taught him one thing, itâs that any inopportune moment could drastically change for the better! They only needed but a little luck on their side... Of course, thatâs if one believes in everything they see on the television.
â Iâll teach you the steps, you neednât worry. â Except there is a need for worry.
Those practice runs of his were an excellent means to learn his side of the dance. Not so many memories on how his partner should be following. A lie is only a lie if one is caught. Blowing hot air to make himself bigger than he truly was; it works for plenty of situations. Here? Not so much.
Not when heâs such a mess. His head is hardly focused on properly teaching what little he knows. All that staring longingly and hand holding leaves him rightfully flustered. It was a mistake to urge him to rest that strong hand a little lower than the hip line. Reassuring him that being only an inch apart was all necessary for the dance, an even worse idea.Â
Even with all that armor on - contact was still contact, and heâd received very little of it over the passing years. Any excuse to get this close was all very well worth the-
â N-NO WAIT. DONâT STEP THERE YET-!! â -Several mishaps. Luck is on his side for all the wrong reasons today. Yet again, his foot is stepped on for a third time after heâd just instructed his partner to mimic his own footsteps. It could have gone south fast had he not all that armor on. A quick flinch and nothing more, per the usual so far - spare that ever-growing exchange of apologies shared quietly between them (mostly on his unfortunate dancing partnerâs side).
â Letâs... Try that again. Iâll step first and you follow. Without the foot stepping. Thereâs only so much abuse my  p o o r   b o d y  can take, mind you... â
