I really don't know what I'll name this character yet but I'm heavily considering just calling them krossy like I am since I not only suck at choosing names but I'm also making them for my Brook selfship and I could totally make the ship name Krossbones

ik there was a whole thing in Alabasta about devil fruits with flying powers being super rare and how there's only 5 that have ever been discovered so I'm leaning on the "ever been discovered" part of that really heavily so don't execute me COUGH.

Anywayys originally I was going to just give him a Rainbow Lorikeet motif as a reference to part of his backstory (backstory that's also a reference to me bc ofc it is) but at some point that just turned into me giving him a Devil fruit, or more specifically the Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Lorikeet (in Japanese I believe it would be written as トリトリの実 モデル“ゴシキセイガイインコ” But please do correct me if I'm wrong, my Japanese is EXTREMELY rusty)

He's transmasc like me but unlike me actually has top surgery (living the dream)

I don't want to get too into backstory stuff yet because it's still being written and can get a bit personal at points but for a very basic overview of his devil fruit backstory

He was raised in either the east or south blue (I haven't quite decided, east is definitely easier to write because we have more information on it but it also doesn't feel as interesting to me) by an elderly parental figure that was not blood related to him (I'm basing this caretaker off a real person from my childhood) not sure what their gender will be yet but I'm leaning more towards them being a woman for some reason despite the real person they're based on being a man.

This caretaker is a retired pirate from the Grandline and the original user of the Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Lorikeet though my character doesn't know about his parental figure's history as a pirate or their devil fruit ability, having never seen them use it.

They're getting up there in years and one night simply die in their sleep. It's sudden but painless, from natural causes. But their (basically adopted child) doesn't find them until later, that morning he had decided to surprise his caretaker with breakfast, going out the front to pick berries he stumbles upon a strange fruit on one of the trees, placing it in the basket with the rest of the berries and heading inside. He cuts a small piece off the fruit and gives it a try only to immediately discard it (it tastes absolutely disgusting) continuing to prepare breakfast before he catches a look at his reflection in the mirror and panics, having very little control over his new zoan abilities. (and not even knowing what they are in the first place) he stops what he's doing and rushes to his caretakers room for help, Finding them hours after they had already passed.

For some backstory When I was around 12-13 years old I had a stalker, this man seemed around his late 20s to early 30s (from what I can recall) he would follow me to and from school almost every day, he would constantly try to get close to me, start conversations, being overly touchy and all that, even finding where I lived, often waiting for me Infront of the homes of my neighbours.

He had a bit of a history with my family, mostly by creeping my mother a few years before the stalking started when we first moved in, standing on our doorstep at the dead of night demanding to see the previous owners of the house but as far as I'm aware he didn't know about me or that I lived there until the stalking started.

One time I remember he even chased my older brother and I on our way to the bus.

It was something that affected me a lot as a kid, I was already very paranoid at the time from things that happened to me when even younger so it really didn't help.

Whenever I would try to tell my parents about it they assumed I was being dramatic, my dad even told me I was being too harsh because the man was "probably just lonely" and my friends at school treated it like it wasn't a big deal.

The stalking went on for a long time, I'd often catch glimpses of him while just going about my day. He'd even creeped on my brother walking home a few times asking about where I was on days I hadn't been at school.

Until one day he just disappeared. I never saw him again. I still have no idea what happened to him and it's not like I can check when I didn't even know his name. Nobody (that I know at least) has seen him since. But the paranoia has never really left me, even now every time I have to walk home I'm on constant alert as if he could appear at any moment (especially since I often have to walk home at night)

Even the sound of my own footsteps can freak me out at times. At some point I started playing things on my phone out loud for background noise while walking home, it was weirdly comforting. The songs I tended to go back to the most being the two songs canonically created by my f/o, for whatever reason those were always the most comforting and since then it's kind of just become what I listen to when stressed in general. It calms me down a lot and I haven't felt this safe outside in a long time.
