Figured it out. I changed my name from Kris to Chara around the time I went to college (I think I remember college? So I guess I must've lasted long enough to actually go?). I think I had finally decided I wanted a "more monster-y" name to fit in. How did I find this out? Bratty calling me "Krissy". Just went "absolutely not. hell no" internally about it (at the time and when rediscovering this fact) and changed it.

I knew the SOUL btw. Didn't stop me from tearing it out of me, but it knew neither of us *really* asked for this, so when I needed a fucking break, it sat there in the cage and took it.

I changed my name at some point. idk when it was, nor in which direction. Just that, at different points in my life Chara and Kris were my name. I don't know if I'd been named Kris and changed it to Chara, or vice versa, I just know that both names were mine. I go by Chara with my friends right now just because it's easier, but that doesn't make Kris any less of Also My Name.
