Psyche, her jealous sisters (goodness gracious, they really thought Zephyr would give them a lift when Psyche isn't even living at Eros' house anymore/when they were planning to replace her without Eros' input, like girlies, what happened to your wit and intelligence that was so heavily praised? Jealousy does a lot to one's brain, like oof) Persephone and Hades, and the tiniest glimpse of Aphrodite and Eros, lol.

I thought it'd be fun to draw Idia and Kora and Malleus and Eleanora with their respective god/goddesses beside them. Just a, "Hmmm, wonder what those gods and goddesses are up to nowadays???" kind of thing. Hades is absolutely deeply annoyed because Maleficent and Eros??? Two of his least favorite people mashed into one!

So quick reminder, Kora is 16 (Funnily enough, she's like 3 days younger than Sebek... A fact she HATES). But because Kora is 16, she can't always handle everything with grace and poise. She's going to get upset at points and react way more emotionally than intended.

Remember how Lilia basically triggered Leona's Overblot?

Well, in that Overblot fight, Kora got smacked pretty HARD by Leona's Phantom. She got sent flying over half a football field of distance and if not for quick thinking on Riddle's behalf, she likely would've come out of that with a broken neck. Riddle was able to cushion her fall enough that she's just hella bruised and got quite a bit of road rash and scratches.

This is the third overblot Kora has faced and once the fight is over, she's upset and terrified. She's not thinking too clear because she knows she nearly died and she's verging very close to a panic attack. To her, Lilia basically saw Leona on the edge and kicked him off. Kora is shaking all over because she's so freaked out and starts yelling at Lilia because "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT FOR?"

Lilia takes her yelling at him quietly and does feel some guilt over it. He knows he knows better than to push a mage who is obviously under duress closer to overblot. He can see Kora is legit terrified given how severe her shaking is and the fact her eyes are overly wide and filled with tears she's trying to hold back. To Lilia, she's basically a very terrified child, so he's letting her letting her yell at him without reacting so she can get out the high emotions as if she were a toddler.

Sebek, however, gets offended on Lilia's behalf. He marches up in front of Lilia, interrupts Kora, gets in her face, and starts yelling at her because "How dare a weakling human disrespect Lord Lilia in such a manner?" He yells at her for a while and she stills, but it's not calming Kora down.

It's making her ANGRY.

Without warning, she clocks Sebek directly in his left eye HARD. (You're supposed to punch crocs in the eye if they come after you, but Kora doesn't know that, just a fun ref). She does stagger him a little from the shock but, in the process, she cracks a bone in her right hand from the punch. Sebek's hella embarrassed that a human got a hit on him, but in his defense, Kora was not showing any fighting intent until she swung and she swung FAST.

Everybody is stunned. Leona breaks the silence by freaking laughing while Deuce basically has to throw her over her shoulder and run while she's screaming to be put down. Ace and Grim are running behind to make sure there are no pissed Diasomnia students on their tail.

When Ace and Deuce finally do put her down. All Kora can do is just cry. She's tired, she's covered in bruises and scratches, Lilia made things with Leona so much worse, Sebek got all up in her face, and to top it all off, her hand now hurts! Ace and Deuce take a moment to figure out how to handle what just happened because Kora crying super hard isn't something she has done in front of them.

On Sebek's side, he gets a shiner for like a day or two after (half-fae healing at its finest), but he takes it as incentive to work on his training so he can prepare for attacks where there is no hostile intent until the last moment. His main embarrassments are Lilia scolding him for intervening when Lilia was handling it just fine and was letting the magicless child get all her feelings out and the other one? Malleus finds out how he got that black eye and who gave it to him.

I made a note to have Idia's addressing of others showcase how he's very distant with other people when he speaks to them, but I forgot... I've fixed it now (I just added -shi suffix because @avionvadion reminded me Idia's a huge otaku, it's a viable thing to have him use the Japanese honorific he favors), but still.... GAH.

I'm kicking myself because that's important for writing Idia in One Last Hope. I have notes for writing that when he uses "Sessha" to translate it as "This unworthy one" and to make an English speech marker of when he uses "degozaru" (like having "degozaru" translated as "that it is" or something), but I forgot the -shi...

The reason it's so important to me is Idia never drops to yobisute with anyone except for Ortho and the player ONCE in JP GloMas. The -shi honorific is Idia uses is "Polite but also saying I'm not affiliated with the person". @yuurei20 made a whole YT video explaining Idia's speech patterns.

While I usually allude to things like Kalim's use of yobisute to tone and this general sense of a bit too overly friendly and Azul is written as having a more business-like tone to how he addresses people who aren't Floyd or Jade to nod to the fact he uses -san with most people, there are characters where I keep how they refer to others in JP. (E.G. Malleus using surnames rather than first names and Idia having verbal cues to his otaku/nerdiness and enforced sense of distance).

Just... I know it's not a big deal in the long run and no one is perfect, but MAAAAAAAAAAAN, I am kicking myself so hard right now.

Well, Kora usually holds the braincell between the three of them, lol. Just kidding, I'll go into depth about it. Let's start with Ace.

Ace and Kora have a rocky start to their relationship. Remember this?

Kora takes no garbage. While Grim is getting riled, she keeps working and says, "Ignore him, Grim. He's obviously compensating for something abysmal." Ace... assumes what she's insinuating and gets mad and when he confronts her about it, she feigns ignorance. She was talking about his personality. What did he think she was talking about? Because she has no clue at all. 😇

With Ace ducking the window punishment and putting her at risk of being on the street, Kora starts to lose grip on her patience and when Ace is griping about having to work with her to get the magestone, she snaps. "Well, pardon me for being snatched to another world against my will so I wasn't in the mood to roll over and take your crap. I'll be sure to remember your fragile ego next time."

After the mine, Ace apologizes, but Kora can sense it's not totally genuine and her face often tattles on her. Ace is a bit miffed by her skepticism, but Kora accepts it and apologizes for her comments, so he doesn't push it. Kora is FLOORED when he socks Riddle over Riddle's comments, which were particularly aimed at her. Ace gives her a much more genuine apology after Riddle's overblot because he sees through Riddle mocking her how much of a butt he himself had been to her.

After that, they're close friends and he's protective of her, but they do snipe at each other in jest. Ace begins to learn where Kora's limits to his jabs are because she will clap back on him and Kora will give back what he dishes out to her. If it's somewhere he wouldn't want Kora poking at, he's not gonna cross that line. Kora's face also alerts him when his teasing is going too far because again, it tattles on her usually.

Moving on to Deuce!

Deuce and Kora are besties. They bond over having single moms who they love dearly and Kora doesn't judge Deuce for having a delinquent past. Plus, she understands Deuce’s goal of wanting to make his mom proud.

Deuce and Kora often study together because both are so behind starting out. Kora catches up, but Deuce often has trouble, so Kora helps him to figure out a way for him to talk to the teachers and ask for help without bringing up his past.

Deuce is also usually the first one to rush to help Kora out. Even though she’s older than Deuce, he looks out for her like a big brother. They sometimes snipe at each other too but it’s more soft sniping where both are very aware of what not to poke at. Kora will never prod Deuce about his insecurities and Deuce won’t prod at Kora’s. Deuce is very emotionally aware compared to Ace so he gets a better read on Kora than Ace.

One funny thing is Kora doesn’t really fess up that Idia is her friend. Ace gathers it at New Years due to working with Idia, Epel, and Leona, but Deuce doesn’t really know about it until Book 5 and when he learns, he doesn’t understand it too well. As a result, his misunderstanding around Kora and Idia’s relationship manifests in his Book 7 dream in a way that MAJORLY OFFENDS IDIA.

I just realized that in Book 3, Kora is going to have a very unpleasant impression of Azul when she meets him, thanks to Idia. Was refreshing the brain on Idia and Azul's relationship and Idia is so freaking mean about Azul.

I think I've mentioned this before, but to explain, the reason Kora didn't get snagged by Azul's handy dandy study guide offer is Idia warned her off it. I just had him being all shy and quiet, but nope! That's gonna have to be rewritten because he's gonna DRAG AZUL SO HARD.
