they DID kill declan btw. morada, the monk, was unconscious when konks, the paladin right next to her, chose to make one final attack instead of using lay on hands. so declan died, and eileen let out a piercing, blood-curdling scream that forced a con save and did 1d6+2 damage on a fail. I gave morada's player the choice of whether or not to roll the saveβ I said, "you didn't hear it, you're unconscious," and she said, "the sound waves would have still pierced my eardrum"β so she chose to roll and she failed. that gave her one death save failure.
konks figured that eileen would retaliate against her, because she's the one who killed her dad, but instead eileen decided if you rip my heart out, I'll rip out yours, so she plunged her claws into morada's chest.

eileen tore morada's heart from her chest and ate it.
