So, we're on day 4, and my progress is pretty good so far if I do say so myself! Currently sitting on 12,615 - which is a couple of thousand from what I've been aiming to get.
[If you want to read about my creative struggles and some rambling, read on?]
At first, I was pumping out words like it was carbon dioxide. I just did it naturally, with my little plan all set out.
And then I hit chapter 3 - 5,295 words in and I hit a minor block. I was changing the focus to a different character, and I had to cram a year's worth of events into the space of one chapter. And after that, my quality plummeted by my quantity started to go back up again.
But I have to say, I'm really, genuinely enjoying myself. I think about what I'm going to write when I get up, then I squish in a few words before school, and then I just think about my characters for the next six hours. That's honestly when I think out most of my subplots. Then I come home and I write a pile of nonsense, and next thing I know, it's almost 11pm and I've been distracted for at least half the time I'd spent 'writing'.
All I can saw for now is, ignore the quality of your writing. Just get the words on the page! It's the easiest way to keep your word count up throughout November.
Hopefully you're all getting on okay as well! If you have any concerns, questions, or you just want to talk, my ask box is always open! c:

This year, my NaNo is called 'Keeper of Keys'. The story itself follows Noah, a timid boy with a knack for inventing things, along with his best (and only) friend, Mel - and Damon, who's essentially just there for the heck of it.
Basically, the trio are in some pretty serious trouble. They've been suspected by the High Order of Witches for quite some time for different reasons. With the help of Damon, Mel breaks out of prison and the pair run off to drag Noah along on a journey to save seven of the infinite number of universes.
Along the way, they are faced with villains, villains-who-aren't-really-villains, and a handful of runaways. With a few rusty old keys, an inventive mind, and the weight of humanity on their shoulders, the trio plunge into the deep end in a wild attempt to save their people from the brink of extinction.
