"i love that thing, screams like a fucking dinosaur as it flies overhead. they werent common until like 5 yrs ago because of increased conservation efforts in my city. they are loud and beautiful and a great symbol of local efforts to restore native wildlife populations"

Koekoeā (Urodynamis taitensis)
also known as Long-tailed Koel
"Bird local to my area, migrates to pacific islands & New Zealand. I frequently hear it but have yet to see in person."
Mainly found in native and exotic forests during the breeding season where one or more of its target host species reside: Whitehead, Yellowhead, and Pipipi. Breeds only in New Zealand before migrating to tropical Pacific islands for winter.
