originally dumped this on tosh @bureau-pinery like. three months ago. and then promptly forgot about it.
this came about because i was working on a secret project that iâm still working on verrrrry slowly where obi-wan and cody are super close but obi is paired off otherwise, and my adhd brain deadass went âi like codyâs chestplate oh yeah haha kit fisto always has his abs out haha their chests look similarâ and then imagined them standing next to each other and then thought about them both being competent bastards and would get along so. well.
iâve sort of always seen kit as one of obiâs close jedi friends, especially on the council/for sparring, so like just IMAGINE the sorts of long-suffering looks kit and cody could exchange. kit would be SO GOOD at nonverbal cues (ask me about my nautolan headcanons sometime) and cody lives most of his life in his bucket, they would manage entire conversations without even hand signals (toying with an alt idea that kit is the only one that knows cody is force sensitive and a lot of their ânonverbalâ convos are them just fucking with everybody else because no one else can understand them)Â
otherwise, i think of them as a super lowkey couple, like partly because theyâre rarely deployed together but also just who they are, they arenât overtly affectionate or romantic in public or on the clock, theyâre both really good at keep a professional distance, to the point nobody ever expects them to be together. theyâre certainly not hiding it, and if anyone asked cody what he does on leave, or if heâs going steady with someone, he has no problem name dropping general fisto, partly just to see their reaction. itâs sort of a GAR-wide joke that the battalion commanders end up with their Jedi in some romantic capacity (what with BlyLa, Mace/Ponds, RexWalker, etc), and because CodyWan are like edging on the level of closeness obi-wan has with anakin, everyone just assumes theyâre together? and kit and monnk are pretty close, but again, it isnât really as obvious as cody and obi make it. so when people waggle their eyebrows and ask if kit is shacking up with one of the clones, expecting to be monnk or someone from his battalion, kit takes great pleasure in happily answering âcommander cody!â but whether or not the asker BELIEVES him is another matter entirely
because theyâre not often fighting on the same field together, thereâs next to know fandom-typical fighting with and rescuing and battle angst (which makes my angst heart a lil sad), and most people just never see them interact? but off the clock, they like to read together âcause theyâre NERDS and some of those nautolan headcanons involve physical closeness. i for some reason have always seen the both of them as good with a bo staff, so they spar a lot too, i like to think kit has a private salle near his rooms at the temple because he does a lot of battle/dynamic meditation, so they donât usually spar where others can see them. like theyâre a very low romance couple, they mostly just like existing near each other and learning from each other, and hey, sleeping on a nautolanâs chest while you float in a pool is like. really nice.Â
