The oldest Church in Trivandrum is the St.Joseph's Cathedral in Palayam. Built in 1873, I remember seeing it as an red & white structure till they whitewashed it all away . Though in this pic it offers a wonderful contrast to clear blue skies. One of the most distinctive features is the kodimaram, the steel pole like structure, an element they have taken from the Kerala temples. The flag Staff like in Temples are used to host flags during festivals. This should not be a surprise as Christianity is supposed to have arrived in Kerala as early as 52 AD.
