#knucklebox

Finally!  An Alexander McQueen-inspired clutch of my own!!  I don't usually gravitate toward skulls, chains, and studs, but the McQueen knuckle/skull boxes appealed to the part of me that loves flashy and glamorous things.  They are like beautiful pieces of art. 

I saw some on my last trip to Downtown LA, but didn't get one becuase I was trying to exercise some self-control, but I couldn't stop thinking about them when I got home.  Weeks/months later, I'm still thinking about them and firmly resolve that I want one, and I'll get one on my next trip to DTLA.

When I saw that my blog-eague A takes some of her sartorial inspiration from Alexander McQueen, naturally, I brought up the subject of his skull clutches.  Sadly, with the original skull boxes' and knuckleboxes' 4-digit pricetags, there was no way either of us could ever hope to ever have one in our collections.  The next best choice for us would be the inspired versions--retailing around $100 at the malls, but much, much less if we went to DTLA. 

A and I did individual research on alexandermcqueen.com; we wanted to see what designs and variations would stay true to the McQueen aesthetic.  My favorite design is the Britannia Skull Box Clutch, a sweet little red, white, and blue  number with the Union Jack emblazoned on the clutch and a single skull to top it.  I'm not an Anglophile, but if I were to spend the money on a McQueen, I'd want everyone to notice it.
