Update on the Blanket
SO I began the blanket about a week(?) ago; Because I do have a life outside of the internet and knitting, I'm not terribly far into it.
As you can see, I've got the beginnings of the blanket done- I've lain in my border (again, keeping with the Sherlock-theme, I taught myself the BEE stitch and laid in 8 rows of it for a nice, solid border [which also has meaning in the Sherlockian sense of it- just like the four basic knit stitches that border it on three sides and the eleven rows of basic stitches that crown it]) and the beginnings of the body, and now I'm ready to start lying in my design of John and Sherlock using intarsia. In case you were wondering, teaching yourself to knit intarsia on a design as complicated as this one is not a good idea. Which is, of course, why I'm doing it. In all honesty, Intarsia has been the one knit-stitch that I was flat unable to understand based on pictures and seeing examples of the work. I actually had to search around for a video tutor for it and in the end was more confused than I'd like to admit. In the end, though, Britain saved me again in the angelic form of Youtube k1p1TV. This wonderful, simple British woman calmly talked me down off the metophorical St. Bart's I'd pearched myself on in regards to my design and taught me to use intarsia without wanting to shoot myself. All in all I'm counting it as a win-so-far, and will continue to update you all. If you want to learn intarsia knitting, this is the wonderful video that taught me.
