Bad News/Good News
Bad: I’m pretty sure I have a cavity. My jaw and molars hurt. And the dentist’s first opening is in a week. But, I’m going to power through.
Good: I won a giveaway from the Knitting Pretty Podcast! The podcast is available at Emmaknits.net and she is lovely. She’s the one who convinced me to subscribe to Seamwork and she’s really tempting me to spin for a sweater.
So, overall, a win.
HOly Knitting Podcasts, Batman!
So I'm going to start reviewing the knitting podcasts I listen to and post them here for the world to see. Please, friends, keep in mind that these are just going to be my opinion and I am in no way Supreme Opinion-Haver so, even if I don't particularly like it for me, give it a shot and see if you'd like it for you.
Knitting Pretty is a podcast by Emma Galati, who lives in Canada, and usually goes by the UN KnitFastDieCozy. She's fashion and feminism forward and even when talking about stuff that she doesn't necessarily like for herself, she is sure to leave room for people to rock that thing anyway. Here's a non-iTunes link to her podcast and show notes.
Never Not Knitting isn't the kind of show that I want to shotgun like Knitting Pretty. I find it to be a little judge-y and non-supportive in it's opinions. And that's just me. Some people who agree with the host's sense of style may sit there nodding in validated agreement, but to me it just felt uncomfortable. However, I must admit that the first time I heard the Never Not Knitting theme song though I laughed myself silly; they really did a great job. I'll definitely keep listening in fits and starts but it's not going to be my go-to. Here's a link to her Podcast and show notes too, if you want to find out more.
I'm also starting up listening to The Knitting Pipeline fairly recently. It's run by a woman in Illinois who was knitting well before it came back around to being cool and having plentiful resources. She also knew Elizabeth Zimmerman personally and has a bunch of letters between the two of them that she shares on the podcast. I've really been enjoying her nature notes segments as well because nature is a subject that's near and dear to me. So far, her community on Ravelry seems very supportive and affectionate and I'm going to keep tuning in. Maybe I'll finish the archive by August, haha! Aaaaand here's a link to the podcast and show notes.
