polysos but in the way that since they were young, they’ve all had their first kisses and multiple heartbreaks and long term short term girlfriends (and later hookups, and wives), but longer than they’ve had any of that, they’ve always had each other.
polysos but it doesn’t start like this. it starts like anything, with friendly touches and hugs and sharing hotel rooms. teenagers pushing their beds together, fighting over the remote and blankets, living their adolescences as one big slumber party. learning how to not stay up into the wee morning hours every single night giggling together and sharing deep dark juvenile secrets.
polysos but growing into their teen years and their earliest of twenties, it becomes truth or dare and drinking games. it becomes sneaking into bars and laughing a little too hard, leaning into each other a little too long, cuddling drunk in bus bunks in a way that always feels somewhat secretive despite pure intentions and coming down from the highest highs of playing to stadiums of thousands and thousands of people with arms wrapped too low around waists and too tight around necks beneath shared bedsheets in hotel rooms they still share unnecessarily on occasion because they haven’t felt close to home or understood by anyone but each other in yearsyearsyears.
polysos but it snowballs into their twenties where they’re making big boy mistakes that they all hold each other through (literally and figuratively) and taking big boy drugs that lead to dancing way too close in the darkest corner of the club. too much eye contact and lips almost grazing one too many times on their way to talk through the noise against each others ears, taking turns pushing hips into each others at big house parties hosted by much bigger celebrities where they aren’t the center of attention. laughing high and loud like it’s one big joke.
polysos but kissing each other sloppily on the cheek when they’re drunk and grateful and kissing each other on the lips when pretty girls dare them to at the bar, closed mouth and silly and exaggerated. fighting over which one they want and maybe sometimes it’s the same girl and maybe once or twice they tie at rock paper scissors and more than one of them take her home, but it’s not weird it’s not weird it’s not weird if they can joke and be casual and high five later on about it.
polysos but sometimes the road moves too fast and they don’t even have the time to go out, and sometimes they’re burnt out on meeting people they’ll inevitably leave behind and it feels good to slide into the bunk of someone they trust with their lives when they’re all drunk off their asses and make out, and if anything beyond that were to happen, they don’t need to address it because nothing ever feels any different. they’re the same as they’ve always been, and maybe it’s not acknowledged, but not because they’re walking on eggshells. just because nothing feels off.
polysos but one day the four of them wake up all squished together in one of their king beds, off tour, after a three day stretch of just being around each other and still needing to live in each others pockets after all this time. they didn’t drink more than a couple beers and nothing sensational or unusual happened last night, no revelations, no heightened emotions. just sitting around and talking and playing video games like they always do, but now they’re sticky and tangled up in sheets and legs and arms in the dim early morning light, softly smiling to one another as they wake, and no one says anything because they can’t say they’re surprised.
