Unpredictable knitting dork with goofy smile whose sock puppet actually aided Dumbledore in defeating Grindelwald, history just chose to ignore it because it sounded incredulous and inconceivable - Gellert Grindelwald, brought down by a sock
... you know, “history chose to ignore it because sounded incredulous and inconceivable” may be my new go-to explanation for any plot hole in the wizarding world ever. All the great figures. The big heroes. Merlin. Morgana. The founders. Each and every one of them plagued and beset by entire lifetimes of what the fuck moments while everyone around them despairs. What people don’t realise is that magic is downright ridiculous and there’s teams of historians industriously working away to smooth it over so as not to scare future generations away from the really powerful branches of magic.
Like woolmancy. Yeah.
(oh god if it is woolmancy what the hell would happen if Theseus ever got his hands on an actual sheep???)
