The day after our visit to the TWA Museum last month at Kansas City's Downtown Airport was the KC Air Show with the US Navy's Blue Angels. We didn't go to the air show, but while at the TWA Museum, the staff were kind enough to let us watch the Blue Angels practice session from their hangar right on the airport flight line! While the cloudy skies weren't the best for aviation photography, the humid rain-soaked air (some thunderstorms had just passed through the area earlier in the day) made for some incredible condensation clouds that form around the low pressure areas of the F/A-18 Hornet as the pilots pull the aircraft through high-G maneuvers. The aerodynamics of the fighter aircraft are such that there are vortices that stream off various parts of the aircraft that are only seen in humid conditions- the low pressure zones that form cause the water vapor to condense out of the air and form these incredible clouds around the aircraft as they maneuver at high speed. This was was Blue Angel 2, the Right Wing, pulling hard right over our hangar. You know, because airplanes, dammit. #Avgeek #aviation #aircraft #planeporn #KMKC #MKC #KansasCity #Kansas #Missouri #airport #planespotting #McDonnellDouglas #Boeing #FA18 #Hornet #BlueAngels #instagramaviation #aviationlovers #aviationphotography #mil_aviation_originals #instaaviation #aviationlovers #aviationphotography #flight #AvGeeksAero #AvGeekNation #AvgeekSchoolofKnowledge (at Charles B.
