• Renjun has always been quick to react. It was only in 8th grade after a particularly brutal dodgeball game that someone joked it must have been a super power

• Turns out they were right. He had Superhuman Reflexes and Agility

• When he first showed up at the recruitment camp they looked at his powers and thought: “is this kid serious? What can he do catch shit?”

• Why yes, yes he can.

• During recruitment, one of the bigger, older trainees were hassling some other foreign kids.

•and when the kid tried to push the bully, the asshole threw a punch

•that never landed.

• “That’s not very nice of you.” Renjun‘s, hand is wrapped around the bully’s fist. He gives him a smile, his eyes narrowing and curving to crescents as he twists.

• The guy crumples, his body tilting as Renjun uses the leverage he has on his arm. The bully tries to pull his arm away to no avail.

• Two of observers watching, both members of the EXO team, one of them reaches for a knife at his belt.

• “Doesn’t feel too good does it?” Renjun finally releases him and the bully crumples to the floor, panting.

• He expects another blow and even flinched when Renjun moves again, but then is left staring dumbstruck at the hand that’s offering to help him up.

• “Well?” Xiumin ask Baekhyun

• Baekhyun throws a knife at him.

• Of course, he catches it. Even as he’s helping pull the other kid up, he catches it.

• “I like this kid!” Baekhyun grins

• “they’re not gonna pick him”

• “I know...but I like him!”

• For the longest time, Jaemin had thought he was crazy. How the hell else do you explain hearing voices all the time?

• At some point he wondered if he was being haunted but then he realized, it wasn’t medieval times, that he wasn’t irrational and that google existed. So he looked up what it likely and actually was.

• Jaemin was telepathic

• It was a total headache learning control at first. And not freaking out or reacting to things he wasn’t supposed to know.

• Telepaths weren’t exactly very welcome. Who would want people in their head? The government had laws against rampant and unmonitored telepaths.

• But Jaemin didn’t wanna be supressed; didn’t want the pills, the headgear or (god forbid) the implant that would weaken his powers.

• So he had two options: run which was not a good idea (he was 13!)

• Or he could become a hero, free to use his powers without too many consequences...or so he thought.

• He finds his way to SM and they like the look of him but frown at his powers. For a while they try to force some telekineses out of him but it didn’t take.

• They were ready to let him go until they found him interacting with one of their star trainees Mark, someone who’s powers usually kept him from being vulnerable in any way.

• But Jaemin could read his mind, could talk to him, could reach him and help him get control back the way the teachers and the older trainees couldn’t.

• So he wasn’t telekinetic, but he did turn out to be pathokinetic

• everyone watches in awe as he defuses fights between a bunch of super powered knuckle heads with little more than two words.

• “That’s enough.”

• Haechan makes any room he enters brighter.

• No really, he’s heliokinetic, a literal sun spot on earth and it’s awesome (fullsun)

• When SM saw him at their auditions, such a unique power, one with such showmanship capabilities he was almost signed on the spot.

• He did go through audition though and in the audition he was disappointed.

• he’d trained all his life. Trained his powers for combat, for saving people.

• instead when he comes to Neo City they asked him to...perform, there was no other word for it.

• shapes in the sky, flashes of light when he landed a hit, constantly radiating in public which just wasted energy

• He was confused in training. He came here to be a hero, to save people. Not put on shows for them.

• It wasn’t until he was approached by an older trainer, an energy constructor who was shoe in to be their leader that he understood.

• “Don’t you get it? That is what being a hero is now.”

• He did get it. But that didn’t mean he was gonna let it stay that way.

• Imagine...

• Being so much of a little shit that toddler you disappears on your mom only to reappear at the top of the stairs, then on the kitchen counter, then on the couch.

• Jisung can and he did.

• The bell his mom put on her sweet teleporting little angel didnt work, but the tracker did.

• He grew up playing pranks on people, telerporting in and out of windows as a “ghost”, snatching things from teachers when they weren’t looking, etc.

• Overall, he was trouble. Powerful, mischievous trouble. Enough trouble for them to send him to audition for SM to teach him that with great power....

• Came being a celebrity?

• He thought they were supposed to be heroes

• “You are.” A teacher told him but a hero was nothing if the people didnt love and support them

• He didnt buy it. Not a week in training and he’s teleporting around the vents to see what exactly was happening,

• eventually it just became a hobby and everyone started coming to him for inside info which he gladly sold in exchange for them teaching him what the trainers didnt.

•and....some candy.

• On occassion he brought other curious trainees, even one who’d become his best friend; Chenle.

• Jisung was fine with training for a while but Chenle had plans

• And what kind of best friend would he be, if he wasn’t there for him?

• Jeno never really bothered to put too much into anything. He just liked being laid back, enjoying life.

• He was always strong (but that wasn’t a superpower, his friends forced him to check)

• And he was always so bright and positive and very easy on the eyes, so they convinced (coerced) him into becoming a cheerleader

• he was actually really good and he loved it too, the high, being able to get people going and energize them

• No he wasn’t an empath!

• everyone kept insisting he must have a superpower, they knew it! They just felt it! Jeno just smiles and tell them

• “It’s ok. I’m happy with how I am.”

• and the same day he says that, they’re practicing flips in the gym and he runs up to the wall to kick off it

• and instead he keeps running.

• aaaaand he’s halfway up the wall.

• the next day he’s at SM for an audition and they almost cast him on the spot because LOOK AT HIM. But Jeno doesn’t like that. He asks for an audtion just like everyone else

• he nails it. He’s meeting his teammates the next day

• But training isn’t like he thought.

• Instead of focusing on combat they have him focus on acrobatics and tumbling. It’s like he’s just training for more intense cheerleading

• So on his off time he trains with Renjun, a combat specialist everyone is sure won’t make it to the final team.

• But Jeno would be damned if he didn’t make sure that both of them did.

• Mark is a hero, who debuted and is stationed by their organization SM in Neo City. (Think Justice League- with lower branches)

• So far, everything is working for them. No failures, no death tolls and the public loves them all.

• All their hard work is paying off especially Mark’s cause he’s in three out of four special units. (Boi! GET SOME SLEEP)

• Team 127, that’s sent in specifically for incidents that happen locally.

• Then there’s Team U which is the rotational team that’s rearranged and sent in for specific situations anytime, anywhere.

• Team WayV their foreign team stationed in another country,

• and last is the Dream Team, composed of their group’s youngests as a way to monitor when their powers finally settle and stabilize.

• Because even if you’re born with the superhero gene it doesn’t mean your powers will be strong or in some cases they manifest late, in unstable ways or never at all. Or at least that’s what they told everyone.

• Mark was born with a power of adaptation; his physiology changes instantly to suit whatever situation he’s thrown into.

• They go into a snowstorm, he grows fur, fire hits him, his skin turns fireproof, he falls in the water, he grows gills. (think Darwin from Xmen)

• As cool as that is, he has no control and instead of doing what he wants, his power will do what it think he needs.

• i.e. amplifying his voice to MEGAPHONE levels when he just wanted to yell a little louder down the hall of their HQ

• and he wakes up Johnny in the other room who bursts through the wall with the most pissed off expression (boi adapt some super speed and RUN)

• There was also that time during a mission when his entire body turned into pure light instead of him gaining night vision like he was hoping when they were trying to sneak into a dark drug den.

• He’s...working on it.

• When he was young, being seen or heard scared the absolute hell out of him.

• So much so he wished his power was invisibility.

• No such luck and no chance his mother would allow her son to be afraid of being in front of people

• And so she put him on a stage and he enjoyed it, kept doing it and constantly performed at school festivals and community events.

• And at one, as part of a children’s choir, Chenle performed. And right in the middle, the equipment gave out.

• He kept singing and found he didn’t need the speakers. They could hear him as far as the back row and didn’t even need to strain himself.

• There’s a viral videos of the face he pulled when he realized he was supersonic and the thunderous applause that came after.

• In that same month, he was found by SM’s recruiters in China, met this kid who’d be his best friend (guess) and was moving to Korea

• But something was off. He wondered why there was so few other trainees with him and it was nothing like what he and his mother saw when they were toured.

• He wasn’t sure exactly what it was until another trainee with invisibility helped him and a few others sneak into a vent to see the other kids

• They were being taught how to show off their powers, how to make attacks look cool. It was like watching show dogs be trained

• Until Chenle got to a room where there was only two trainees, people he saw once in a while in his room

• Chenle almost got caught there as they were getting everything thrown at them; fire, knives, poisonous gas, bullets, you name it.

• He kept coming back, in awe at how they were at amazing at both showing strength and being strong.

• And he promised himself no matter what, he had to be on the same team as these guys.

Two more to go. The Dream Team is almost complete.
