Bookends
This is a weird post but I want this song to play at my funeral. It reminds me how life is short and that's left about me are my photographs.
Between sunsets and sea salt, I got the chance to be away from the distortion of the city. The calm waves has the alluring charm that make me want to stay. The place feels like grace and I soak them like sand upon my hands.

Film’s Not Dead Just Delayed
I bought this Minolta riva zoom 70w when we're almost at the end of pandemic. I bought 2 films, 1 Kodak Portra Professional 400 and FilmNeverDie Sora 200. The issue with this camera is the flash is not working so when we received the printed photos, some of them were blank, have light leaks and out of focus. I also forgot that maybe the films are expired. It's been 3 years so that's entirely my fault.
Nevertheless, I was happy to see the results, it felt nostalgic. As I browsed through the photos I had taken, I was reminded of how our dad used to bring us with him to the film lab. We were always so excited to see the printed photos. One particular memory is looking at the Kodak posters on the walls of those shops, featuring smiling models depicting happy families with slogans about capturing memories. Back in early 2000s, social media wasn't really a thing, so there were no distractions. You can read the magazines on the rack though. But for a young kid like it was boring, it's either a medical magazine or a religious pamphlet.
I still remember watching the shopkeeper take canisters from customers, walking back and forth into a small back office before placing each one into a paper envelope.
That day, there were only two customers in the shop, us and a mother waiting for her developed films. After handling the canister, the shopkeeper wrote the amount on a receipt, handed it to my dad, and told him he would need to present it on a specific date to collect the photos.
Sharing with you sample photos from 2005.

Morning walk in the mountain - Tanay
As we stepped out the bamboo gate painted in yellow, a light drizzle greets us. We are surrounded by greens which honestly, still amazes me because it takes me to a different place, away from the city full of cemented memories. I forgot the twitch I felt experiencing smog, rush hours and noise pollution. I'm just happy to catch sight of the horizon, surrounded by mountains and trees, where bigger lives waiting for us.
Then we went back to the camping site and hurriedly moved to organize our stuff and go back home. As someone like me who grew up most of her entire life in the city, I will do my best to never miss my chance to enjoy nature trips.
Never got the chance to take photos of the river 😔
