This Is Why Uhuru Kenyatta Was Dropped From Forbes' List of The Richest In The World

Uhuru Kenyatta can at least count himself lucky as one of the people to appear on the famous Forbes’ list of the richest in the world.

However, in a rare move, Forbes List decided to remove his name from this list after many Kenyans protested. Among the Kenyans who protested and wrote continously to Forbes List to remove his name, were various NGOs.

Their main bone of contention was that Uhuru Kenyatta did not work to get the man so placing him on the list glorified inheritance instead of hard work. They also claimed that the legitimacy of the money could not be established since much of it came from his father grabbing land from citizens and his mother Mama Ngina being the most famous poacher of elephants in Africa and participating in illegal ivory trade.

Uhuru was ranked Kenya’s number one and Africa’s 26th richest with a net worth of $500 million dollars on the 2011 inaugural list.

Forbes provided the following reason for Uhuru’s drop-off: “Kenyatta is an heir to one of Kenya’s largest land holdings. Between him and his family, they own over 500,000 acres of Kenyan land easily worth hundreds of millions of dollars. But here’s the problem: The Kenyatta family is a very large one and it’s not certain at the moment that Uhuru, who aims to become president during the country’s elections next year, is the principal custodian of these assets. Hence, he’s been dropped off the list.”
