Well the dekusquad being called the dekusquad makes complete sense, because everyone in it has a slight crush on deku and I cannot blame them.

But the bakusquad being called the bakusquad is so baffling to me. Like excuse me bakugou has the social skills of a pomegranate and the likability of an angry cat (affectionate).

He was literally adopted by them - he didn’t establish them, like, at all, and that folks, is a very important fact to remember. So, here is my proposal- we rename the bakusquad what it should have been all along, the kirisquad.

Think about it, bakugou only has friends cos kirshima saw his angry snarling cat-self and was like ‘I could change him 🥺’ and denki was like ‘I’ll tag along cos I love you bro, but I have no faith’. This is seen by his continued gentle bullying of baku <3

Mina literally said, ‘I’m invested in your character development babe’ and so had to join and sero? Sero has no clue what’s going on and I honestly relate.

Essentially, they are all there for kirishima and it was kirishima who rounded them up, so he deserves the honour of having their strange rag-tag squad named after him.

CANON EVIDENCE:

Aizawa: *shaking his head* no, you break the laws too often *turns to shinsou* go be friends with the bakusquad if you have to be friends with any of the problem children

Shinsou: you are seriously sending me to the group with two loud blondes? i thought that you had a rule

Aizawa: the rule is to not fall in love with them

Bakugou/Kaminari: *already planning dates with shinsou out of pure spite and desperation*

Seriously, everyone in the group is closer friends to Kirishima than bakugo:

Mina: middle school classmate who served as Kirishima’s example to strive towards and narrative counterpart. Also good friends who know bits of each other’s pasts the other students don’t.

Kaminari: A close friend even just based off of how often Kiri and him are placed in scenes together, especially as a trio with Bakugou. They also sit next to each other in class.

Sero: Canonically one of Kirishima’s two closest friends. They’re always teasing Bakugou together and seen alongside each other. Sero was the one most concerned about Kirishima after the Shie Hassaikai raid, and during a non-episode drawing activity, Kirishima drew Bakugou and Sero as his good friends.

Bakugou: And of course: Bakugou. This doesn’t even need explaining they’re ridiculously close.

Jirou: *to Mina* Hey, why has Bakugou been wearing sunglasses lately?

Mina: Well he has to, or he'll damage his eyes.

Jirou: Damage them how-?

*door to classroom opens*

*harps begin to play*

*angels come down from the sky*

*Kirishima walks in*

Kirishima: Bakugou! Thanks for tutoring me last night! Did you get enough sleep?

Bakugou: Tch, whatever shitty hair! You need all the help you can get!...and yeah, I slept enough.

Kirishima: *gives a smile so bright the sun is jealous* That's good!

Bakugou: *pulls out a second pair of sunglasses because the first ones aren't enough* *mumbling* Fuck I love you...

Kirishima: *shines even brighter with happiness* Love you too man!

Kaminari: MY EYES!

Sero: IT BURNS!

Tokoyami: *writhing on the floor*

Jirou: *shielding her eyes* I get it now...
