Theon flings himself under the shelter of her hiding place, breathing hard as the enemy fires in their direction.

“Theon! What are you doing here?” she asks, eyes wide. 

“Look, I don’t have much time,” he tells her, his red-stained hand cupping her cheek. “But I wanted to say I love you.”

Jeyne stares at him...and then rolls her eyes. “Oh my god.”

“I might die out there!” he continues insistently.

“Then perish.” She kicks him out of her hiding place, where Robb’s team annihilates him with paintballs.

Theon raises a dramatic hand to her. “I trusted you.”

Hey! Here’s what comes to mind:

- all images are lined up perfectly

- images are resized to scale. When things are stretched weirdly, it can really mess the whole thing up.

- all images are high quality

- for me, I love a good color scheme. Not all great picspams have to do this though

- all images should have the same contrast quality. All darkest parts and brightest parts of all images should be the same! This rule can be broken but only if done intentionally

👶 - Advice for new writers

I’m not sure how qualified I am to be giving advice, but here goes:

Read. Read everything you can get your hands on. Not just fanfiction - get outside of your comfort zone. Think about what you’re reading. Notice the choices that authors make, the methods they use to guide you down a certain path. Notice when it doesn’t work, and why.

Listen. Listen to the way people talk, in movies and on TV and in real life. Notice how one character says “Yes,” while another says “Yeah,” and a third says “Uh-huh.” Try reading your prose aloud and see how it flows. Try reading your dialogue aloud (without tags) and see if you can tell the speakers apart.

Try new things. Different points of view, different narrative voices. Write a scene, then write it again from someone else’s perspective. Play around with language. Don’t be afraid to fail. I’ve written loads of stuff that I later realized wasn’t very good. The only thing that happens to you if you write a bad story is that you may learn to write a better one.

Get feedback from a person whose opinion you trust. Sometimes you’re too close to the story to be able to tell when the pacing feels off, or a piece of exposition isn’t needed, or the conclusion feels like a leap. A second pair of eyes can help with that. (Caveat: only ask for feedback when you’re ready to listen to it. You don’t have to follow suggestions you don’t agree with, but don’t take them personally either.)

Study writing. Demystify it. Good writing isn’t magic: it’s hard work. The bulk of it is technical skill. Like anything else, it improves with study and practice.

Pearl- What’s your favorite piece you’ve written?

...I...don’t think I could say favourite piece out of all pieces, per se, but in terms of original writing, I did really enjoy writing my poem “Paths.”

In terms of fanfiction, I also don’t have a favourite piece, but one of them was definitely my The Last Story fanfic “Better Off Together,” because I got to combine my favourite character from that game (he’s admittedly not the best person, I will be honest about that, but he’s intriguing on a character standpoint) with a canon-divergent redemption arc leading to a happy ending. 

Eggshell- Which two characters of yours do you ship the most?

I have many favourite pairings, but I am especially proud of creating the Morticent ship (Mortimer WilsonxVincent Wells from Escape The Night) in my Escape The Night fanfic, “Here We Go Again.”
