The Intendant's attention made Kira's skin itch, but she didn't let rumination go any deeper than that. She had to focus on rescuing Bashir and getting them both back to the proper universe; no time to think about the tangle of feelings this doppelganger inspired in her gut. This time, the Intendant had joined her for breakfast. Kira almost felt too nervous to eat, but skipping would put her in a bad state for their situation. It would also probably displease her counterpart, which would also be bad for their current situation.

Thankfully, the Intendant seemed just as enamored with her as on their first meeting. She watched Kira make her selections from the replicator with wide, curious eyes. She met them when she turned with a tray in her hand, gave the Intendant a demure smile, and made for the little table nook in the quarters that had been procured for her.

"Don't be frigid," the Intendant teased, a smile Kira knew all too well curling over her lips. Kira paused, her gaze lingering on the Intendant's hand patting at the mattress next to her.

Kira smiled to smooth over the hesitation and stepped toward the bunk instead. "Not my intention at all," she replied. She tucked one foot over her knee and balanced her tray across her lap. "Would you like some tea?"

The Intendant let out a hum of a chuckle. "No, no, you enjoy yourself," she said, her gaze trekking hungrily over the lines of Kira's face and jaw. Kira had to remind herself to breathe normally. Drink her tea. Eat her breakfast. No trembling hands.

By the prophets, it was distracting -- but not as distracting as when the Intendant scooted closer, pressing their legs together hip to knee. She slipped an arm around Kira's waist. She leaned in, her breath warm and silky against Kira's ear. Could she hear the way Kira's heart pounded?

Kira hadn't turned her head, but she could feel the Intendant smile. "No need to be nervous," she crooned, reaching up to touch Kira's chin. Kira glanced sidelong at her, let her turn her head so they were nose to nose. "It's perfectly natural, isn't it?"

Is it? Kira wondered. But she had no further time to ponder it, with the Intendant leaning forward and brushing their lips together in a kiss that was so achingly soft Kira didn't know what to do with herself. She leaned forward, a fire smoldering in her gut at the curious slide of the Intendant's tongue. With a soft sigh, they broke apart again.

The Intendant grinned. "I still drink the same tea in the morning."

Kira couldn't help it. She laughed.
