The finished piece, the intermediary step, and the initial composition. I sought to create a quick little bonus gift for a secret Santa exchange with my in-laws and my giftee has a love of mountains, volcanoes, and lava.
I am quite happy with the final result -- though I originally had much grander ideas for it (such as cutting out lava trails on the mountains instead of the quick lava-colored outline I ended up with for the sake of time and ease).
Better yet, the recipient seemed genuinely awed that I would gift them something handmade like this, let alone one they found visually stunning (and they seemed sincere in that feedback). It felt so rewarding to realize that a piece I originally felt critical about would be received so warmly by someone else!
