The cold screen of your phone pressed against your cheek, the phone propped up to your ear by your shoulder. The weight of the grocery-filled plastic bags in your hands strained your arms slightly, the loose items threatening to spill and tumble out at the slightest wrong swing.
“Soooo, how was your mission?”
“So easy, but fuck that thing was disgusting. It was like- camping out in the sewers and it smelled like shit.”
The bell of the elevator dinged softly after you pressed the button to call it, turning to press the button for your floor, the doors shut behind you before starting upwards. Adjusting your grip on the bags, you clicked your tongue at the memory of the curse.
“That bad? You’d never catch me complaining about an easy mission”
“Oh, and I guess we’ve got the humble king over here”
The conversation faded off into mindless bumbles and rants about nothing as you waited for the doors to open on your floor, taking the liberty of opening and munching on the container of the candies you decided to buy as a treat, a harsh yawn drew from you, your eyes fluttering to draw out the exhaustion before you brought one of the candies to your mouth.
“You tired already? Thought the mission was easy?”
“And it really was- just that Gojo had me sparring with his first years before that to help them train.”
“Aw, is our resident babysitter tired after a long, hard day sparring untrained first years?”
You could almost hear and visualize his shit-eating grin just based on the grainy audio quality of your phone. The numbers on the elevator counted up before another ding chimed out as the doors opened again. Stepping out onto the carpeted floor, you took down the hallway to your apartment.
“Ha ha. Very funny Taku, maybe someday our resident comedian can get someone to actually laugh at his jokes”
Approaching your door, you fumbled around your bag for the key- the cool metal meeting your hand as you fished it out. Unlocking the door with a faint click, you pushed it open and walked inside, the door locking behind you while you listened to Takuma yapping on about how he was ‘actually very funny’ and ‘Nanami laughs at his jokes.’
A soft gasp escaped you, the bags in your hands dropping with an audible thud. The energy of your home was quite noticeably off. The darkness that engulfed your home was lived in; it was clear you were not alone. However alien this feeling was, it was instantly replaced by a feeling of familiarity, though the sound of Ino’s voice shot you out of your own thoughts.
“Hey- you still ther-”
“No, yeah. For sure, you’re so right Taku”
“Dude, what the hell are yo-” “Have you ever experienced two people breaking into your apartment Taku?”
“What the actual hell are you talkin-” “I’m gonna have to call you back, gotta put everything up first. Talk to you later!!” “Wait, what the he-”
The sound of the phone disconnecting replaced his voice as your hand flipped the light switch on before removing your shoes. Picking back up your abandoned grocery bags, you trudged through and past the darkness of your living room and into your kitchen. You could barely make out two figures on the sofa facing you. Switching the light on, you threw the bags onto the marble counter and began unpacking them.
You heard the sound of a huff before you heard the sound of the creaking of the leather cushions. Opening the fridge, you replaced everything that ran empty- including replenishing the assorted sweets and pastries you kept for your old sensei for whenever he felt like stopping by unannounced. The sound of shoes on tile behind you approached as arms wrapped you. Bracelets adorned them, and their nails were painted a glossy black- Kirara- but you didn’t need that to tell you that your former classmates were in your apartment.
“You gonna keep ignorin’ us?”
“Depends, you gonna leave?”
Kirara’s grip tightened on you as you tried to pull away to organize the rest of your stuff. Hakari let out a gruff chuckle before reaching into the bags to grab the bag of candy you’d opened while on the phone with Takuma.
“Who’s this ‘Taku’ guy..?”
“Yeah, we’re all dyin’ to know- replaced us already?”
Hakari was teasing, like he always did- but Kirara’s poutiness was real. Her hands poked ticklishly into your ribs as you flinched at the cold touch.
“Did I miss an update or something? Last I checked we were no contact, you dick."
“Heyyyyy, don’t be mean- we missed you!!”
She whined against your skin as she pulled you back, aiming to drag you out of the kitchen by force. You sighed before just letting her lead you along. Kinji trailed behind you, a built arm slithering around your waist for a moment before you got lightly thrown onto the sofa. Kirara followed suit, pouncing on you, wrapping her arms around while nearly laying on top of you. The blond sat next to the two of you, a large hand stroking your hair
Kirara’s hands snuck up your shirt, her cold hands sending goosebumps raising along your skin, her soft touch was slightly ticklish as you sat up. Kirara followed, clinging to you by the waist.
“You guys do know that if I get caught with you, I’d be charged with conspiracy against Jujutsu High, right?”
A smile cracked your face as you watched Hakari click his tongue and Kirara roll her eyes, pinching you at the mention of Jujutsu High. They knew you only mentioned it to set them off.
“‘nd who’s gonna know we were here?”
“My good, good friend Taku. Duh, thought you were smarter than that Kin.”
“Heyy! Cut it out with mentioning some other guy, would you! We came alllll this way, didn’t you miss us too!!”
“Mhm, you really wanna be the one to break our girl’s heart
“Blah, blah. You know I’d never- gimme my candy back though- that’s my treat for today
He rolled his eyes, mumbling something about you never changing before handing the crinkling bag back to you. You’d had it in your mouth for a fraction of a second before Kirara swiped it out of your hand and popped one in her mouth. She let out a satisfied hum at the taste before taking out another one to toss onto your tongue.
“Sooo… why are you guys back…?”
“Whattt? Don’t you want us back”
A frown set onto your girl’s face, she pulled herself up to essentially wrap herself around you. Her fingers pinched at your skin under the shirt in retaliation. Your mouth opened for rebuttal, but you were cut off by a guttural groan.
“These are morning problems, ‘m headed to bed.”
“Ooh! Me too!”
The leather croaked as they got off your sofa, Kirara’s now warm hands slithering off you. Looking up at the two from your spot on the sofa, the audacity bewildered you.
“D’you guys always break into people’s homes, not explain yourselves, make yourselves comfortable, then sleep in their beds?”
They shot a glance between each other before a coy smile spread on Kirara’s face.
“Complainin’ but I know you’re gonna be joinin’ us anyway”
It was your turn to groan this time- but he was right. Peeling yourself off your spot on the couch, you stood next to the two of them before dragging them off to your bedroom. Making as small pitstop, you pulled more comfortable clothes out for them before continuing leading them.
“Aww!! You have pajamas in our sizes? That’s so cute!! You really did miss us!!”
“Thought we were gonna be a surprise, you wanted us back that bad, huh?”
“Oh shut your mouth, I can and will make you sleep on the floor.”
Cracking the door of your bedroom open, you tossed the soft fabric onto your bed before pushing into the bathroom. The cold water felt refreshing against your skin, the frothy soap rinsing away the grime that had cemented itself onto you.
“Your bed is massive, y’know. Why the hell do you need a bed that big.”
Your gaze shot up to the figures standing in the doorway as you patted your face dry with a fluffy towel.
“You complaining?”
“Nah.”
Hanging the towel up, you ushered them out of your room to get changed, giving them the opportunity to do the same. Taking off the suffocating clothes you’d worn on your mission felt like shedding off a shell; you never quite liked wearing it anyway.
“‘m done and headed to bed, feel free to join whenever you’re tire-”
The words didn’t even leave your mouth before Kirara pounced onto the bed, arms outstretched like a cat. Hakari followed her, leaving a gap in the middle intended for you. Rolling your eyes, you crawled into bed and got comfortable before using your cursed technique to set the blanket over the three of you.
“Hai, the light is still on by the way..”
You slipped a hand down the blanket and reached into your pocket to grab your phone, and with a perfectly aimed throw, the room was engulfed in darkness.
“There’s somethin’ seriously wrong with you, y’know?”
“Shut the hell up and go to bed."
