If you could go back and change one thing in your life what would it be and why?

First of all, I hate you. I hate you for making me think that something was wrong with me. I hate you for not being able to accept me for who I am. I hate you for making me hide the truth for your own happiness, when mine should be the only one that matters. I hate you for making me think if I told anyone that no one would support me. Because guess what? People do support me. They're okay with me, every part of me. So you can take your transphobic ideas and shove them where the sun don't shine.

I hope that one day you'll look back and realize exactly what you're losing here. I hope you realize that you never lost a daughter, because you never had one. But I hope you realize that you had a son who tried like hell to make you proud, even if it meant hating and lying about himself to stay in line with what you thought was right. Even if you don't look back and realize your mistakes, I'm better off without both of you. While here, I've learned that you can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends, and they end up being even better. I can't change where I came from, but I can damn sure decide where I'm going, and that's exactly what I'm going to do, with or without you.

But, on the off chance that you've made it this far in the letter and you're curious as to what your son has been up to, here's a brief run down. I'm majoring in anthropology, and so far no one here even knows what that is. But I think it's cool that way. It opens up the door for discussion. I met this person, Alex, and they're probably the coolest human being I've ever met in my life. They're my best friend here, and I'm really glad for it. They're practically my polar opposite yet we get along really well. Preston's pretty cool too, but he's more of an acquaintance or, like, a casual friend than anything else. I don't really talk about personal stuff with Preston, but with Alex I can talk about anything. 

Y'know, this is starting to remind me of those letters I used to write to you when I was at summer camp when I was younger. Of course, I never started them off by saying that I hate you, but I feel like now that's much more appropriate. But I guess what I'm trying to say is that whether or not you see me for who I am, it doesn't matter. Because I have people here who like me just the way I am, and I don't plan on going back to the old me, the fake me, any time soon. So I hope you have a very nice life, with or without me.

Hmm... I don't go to the movies often... nor do I watch any tv shows... just Animal Planet, History Channel, Natgeo, you know, the usual.

Back in school it was chemistry and physics, but I'm terribly fond of literature as well.

I was recently asked to join so I'm looking forward for some memories.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

When my adoptive brother dragged me outside, in the middle of the night... I was pissed but it turned out to be great. He flashed a light he had brought and suddenly the backyard was full of fireflies.. that's my favorite one.

What is your relationship with your parents in one word?

Okay.

Who’s the person you’ve felt closest to? Do you still talk to them? Why or why not?

I feel closest to my brother. I still talk to him when I'm not busy of course. I keep communication with him because he's one of the only people who has helped me devoloped my potential.
