'Nausea - A love letter to Simone De Beauvoir' by King Headswim 2013.
Oliver Conway - I make Art under the pseudonym 'King Headswim' I will be responding to the poem by creating a cell in the space covered in my drawings, ink blots and other paraphernalia. I want to create a claustrophobic cell for the viewer, all you can do is shut your eyes or look at the Art. The space will be in darkness except for a pulsating white light which will illuminate the walls for a minute every 5 minutes, I want the darkness to be more present than the Art. In the last few years I have been exploring my own identity, hopes, anxieties and fears in my work, using a lot of mark making, ink blots and mixed media to create faces and landscape and generally lots of mess. When a family member is in prison, their whole family do time as well. In a very different way. I want my work to be an expression of the cell I myself was in during that time.Â
