Xisuma may have built the trading post, but the first shop that is in any way reconcilable with the system we know today came courtesy of KingDaddyDMAC’s Iron Emporium.

The second iteration of the trading post was called The Bazaar, and was largely created as collaborative project between Xisuma and Joe Hills with a little help from Hypno. Built on the bones of the original shack and still in the nether but about eight times as large, this monstrosity spanned two floors of the hub and consisted of twenty small “stalls” or cubbyholes dug into the netherrack that each hermit could claim, decorate, and use to sell their wares as they wished.

DMAC, being the server’s first king of iron, seized upon this opportunity immediately in order to make a buck off the excess of his massively productive (by 2012 standards) farms. He bought the back ends of both of his neighboring stalls, expanded out, decorated with a lavish color palette and was one of the first to use the “take item and replace in the same chest” system that we know today.

It’s important to note that nobody was dealing in diamonds yet as they were still far too rare and necessary for tools, which required immense time and effort to enchant and repair in the days before enchanted books. But iron? Now, that was a priceless commodity, useful for everything under the sun. In straight-handed dealing alone, DMAC could have been a very rich man.

But of course, with free trade immediately comes the capitalistic shenanigans that one associates with the Hermitcraft server. DMAC’s business plan was not simply to sell what he farmed himself, no no! He noticed that his neighbor Xisuma was selling enchanted iron tools at a very low price (selling them for iron at that), and rubbing his sneaky little hands together in glee he bought the whole stock right out from under his bewildered British friend to up charge and sell at his own shop. Classic.

Some things never change.

XISUMA: (laughing) She’s so confused!

KERALIS laughs.

XISUMA: Only the trolliest thing ever! (laughs)

KERALIS: Look- I’m so gonna (inaudible) hit her or those guys, those piglins- there we go! Got her!

CHAT: <Xisuma> ake my arrosw!!

KERALIS: (laughs) I love it!

XISUMA laughs.

KERALIS: It’s the best thing ever! I wanna be invisible forever!

XISUMA: (overlapping) Hey, keep shooting.

XISUMA laughs.

XISUMA: She’s shooting! She’s shooting at you. She knows it ain’t me.

KERALIS laughs.

XISUMA: Maybe she can see you. I don’t know.

KERALIS: No, she can’t, because as soon as I move, right? She shoots in that whole area. So, she- she knows where the arrows are coming from, right?

An arrow is shot.

KERALIS: There we go. Now she sees the arrow, but she aims for the long- wrong place when she aims. So it’s like, I already moved from there. (laughs) it’s awesome, I love it. (laughs)

XISUMA: So cool.

KERALIS: Oh- (giggles) I’m just here.

CHAT: MrMumbo left the game

KERALIS: Bring it on!

CHAT: <Keralis1> bring it on

XISUMA: Mm, you can’t leash pigmen, I thought you could. What if you leash baby pigmen.

KERALIS and XISUMA laugh.

KERALIS: Oooooh!

XISUMA: (laughing) You… threw… your sword!

KERALIS: (struggling) I got my sword!

XISUMA and KERALIS laugh.

XISUMA: Ahhh, no way! (laughs) Ah, that’s brilliant.

KERALIS laughs.

CHAT: <ZombieCleo> !!

KERALIS: Oh my god, (both spoken and in chat) thanks for the sword!

XISUMA: Oh, it’s DMAC. Troll DMAC! (laughs)

KERALIS: (quietly) It’s DMAC!

XISUMA: Quick, hit him!

XISUMA and KERALIS laugh.

XISUMA: He’s confused, hit him again!

XISUMA and KERALIS laugh.

CHAT: <ZombieCleo> when I see you Keralis I’m gonna turn you into a rug

KERALIS: Oh, this is awesome! (laughs)

CHAT: <Xisuma> take my bow!!

XISUMA: Wait, “bow”? Take my arrow.

CHAT: <KingDaddyDMAC> why you so mean :’(

KERALIS: Why so-

XISUMA: He might be able to see you.

KERALIS: No, I don't think he can.

XISUMA: Here, shoot him again.

XISUMA laughs.

KERALIS: (laughing) No, I don't think he can see me. Maybe he can. But I don't think-

XISUMA and KERALIS laugh.

KERALIS: Love the invisibility thing.

XISUMA: Oh, this is priceless.

KERALIS: I will always be invisible from now on. Just gonna AFK here now. Never logging off. Woopise-daisy-

And frankly, I am disappointed /j

Joe, Hypno, and DMAC took out the first two in less than a minute each (the second of which was free-roaming above ground after the first proved underwhelming), in less than full diamond and without using a single potion between them. AND they couldn’t even see the first one, because void fog hadn’t been eliminated yet.
