MARVEL UNIVERSE READING ORDER 2005: MORE AVENGERS, NO MORE MUTANTS The Marvel Universe starts to become a much more coherent place in 2005, after spending a good few years allowing its characters to flourish in their own titles. The elements of a shared universe come together again, with the New Avengers leading the charge. Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Luke Cage and Sentry become Avengers for the first time, with Wolverine joining in the hope of making amends for his period as a Hand assassin. Also, Iron Man first comes into contact with Extremis, Captain America meets the Winter Soldier and the X-Men fall out with Professor X like never before.

In some of the more obscure highlights, Jamie Madrox becomes a private investigator, the Great Lakes Avengers finally get their chance to save the universe and the son of a super-villain joins the Runaways.
