It’s been a while since he’s been to Daath, but the familiar shops and the rise of the city’s center in the distance hasn’t seemed to change one bit. Perhaps that’s why, as he travels toward the monument at the entrance of the city, his steps slow to an eventual halt. This place—he remembers it clearly. Even with so many citizens milling about; even with stand owners shouting out sales for their food and goods; even with so much time passing between now and then. The place where, in an instant, those horrible memories had surfaced and rushed back to him. It’s clear as day, even now.
But he allows himself only a moment before he’s off again, no worse for the momentary stop, and a smile grows on his face as he approaches the cathedral steps. He’s only looking for one person in particular, and so his gaze drops significantly as he passes through the wide doors. He doubts their time apart has brought her any great physical growth spurts.
“Ah—Anise!” He’s nothing but delighted to have found her so easily, and a hand raises in familiar greeting as he approaches. His distance is kept, still, but it doesn’t hinder the warmth in his expression or words. “I was hoping I’d find you here. It’s been a while, hasn’t it? How have you been?”
