my fav killjoys national anthem pages!! (spoilers !!!)
i'm not a super big mcr fan but i read both of the killjoys comics in one sitting and they were really awesome !!!! i especially loved the art in national anthem, the colours r just so nice
starting to understand my boy val velocity a little more as of late
i hate how there's like no content about the fabulous killjoys. like the original comic is about val 🤢 velocity 🤮 and national anthem is basically an au. I WANNA SEE WHAT THE OG GANG IS UP TO. I WANT PARTY POISON WHO TF ARE THESE KNOCKOFFS. i wish that killjoys tv show came to be so bad i would sob watching it despite the voice acting probably being so awful and the animation being cheap im upset i will whine about this the rest of my life
hey so does anyone have a pdf of killjoys: national anthem i cant find it anywhere please i want to read it without getting porn website pop-ups blocking my view

So I noticed something in national anthem about the panels
Back in the 90s, the panels are all over the place. They have different shapes and get into each other in all fun ways, there's no rules
As soon as the TV is introduced, it's in perfectly-fitting continuous squares
Which is also the pattern for the 00s intro. Everything fits perfectly with no blank spaces and straight lines
And that's only interrupted by noise/anomalies (see the little zap that breaks the straight lines)
And then, when Mike snaps out of it - we go back to the stylized panels
The colors too- in the 90s we get these stylized monochromatic panels, and then it's all colored realistically up until the bathroom scene when he snaps out of it and we get monochromatic again. And isn't that so fucking cool??
i think a major influence of the killjoys comics can be traced back to gerard growing up going to NYC in the 80s and 90s, and then seeing what happened after it was "cleaned up" and made into this almost-sanitary place, where all of that dirt and grime was washed away for brand deals and overpolicing and all this other bullshit that makes it no fun. i think even moreso than just living in LA is a want for a grit to society that gerard got to experience at length and just got to see blasted to pieces
